Cindy hesitated, then nodded. "That sea beast came by once before. We saw it swimming straight toward us, but halfway here, it turned around and left."

"That happened?" Nis asked in surprise.

The plump apprentice on the other side thought for a moment. "Something else occurred to me. Since we started traveling with Reynolds, we haven't run into another storm. Before that, we kept encountering all kinds of terrifying weather in these waters."

Cindy nodded too. "And when we found Reynolds, Lord Feiluo called him a lucky fellow. Reynolds had been wandering deep in the Mist Belt without suffering a single attack."

As they brought up one incident after another, details none of them had noticed before came back to mind.
