As Nausicaa rapidly recounted her experiences, Reynolds stared blankly at everything around him.
Earlier, when Angel said he would take him to see Nausicaa, Reynolds had assumed they would travel through the Mist Belt and eventually find her in some pitch-black, gloomy place.
But reality was nothing like what he had imagined.
In the end, he had reunited with Nausicaa on the bustling heavenly streets of a fantastical city unlike anything he had ever seen.
Even now, he felt as though it were a dream.
One moment, he had been sinking through lightless darkness; the next, he had arrived on a city street of boundless prosperity. The contrast was stark, the difference overwhelming.
While Reynolds was still dazed, Nausicaa had already reached the end of her account, recounting what she had experienced and seen from her own perspective.
Once she finished, Nausicaa looked at Reynolds. "I always thought Reynolds had died, because he even threw his weapon to me. Thank goodness, thank goodness he's all right."
Nausicaa let out a long breath, relief in her eyes.
"He may not be all right," Nis said. "When we found him in reality... only his soul remained. We have no idea where his physical body is."
"Reynolds is a soul now?" Nausicaa froze for a moment, then could not help reaching out and pinching Reynolds. Yet the sensation beneath her fingers was no different from a normal body.
"This is Dream Wilderness. His body here was constructed according to its rules. Your body is the same—it is not your body from the outside world." Angel naturally saw through Nausicaa's confusion.
"So the bodies in this world are virtual incarnations formed from consciousness? As long as one can enter, even a soul can construct a corresponding body?"
Angel said, "You can understand it that
