"I have a feeling you've got nothing nice to say," Nis muttered, then softly added, "Let's hear the good news first."
Angel said, "The good news is that the corridor leading to the fifth floor was full of danger. The magic energy arrays there had all been activated. With Wizard Nis's abilities, even if you went in, I'm afraid you wouldn't get anything good out of it."
Nis looked utterly baffled. "How is that good news?"
Angel said, "Of course it is. You took the wrong road, so you didn't barge into that corridor. Isn't that good news for you?"
They had taken a wrong turn, thereby missing the dangerous corridor and arriving at a safe one instead. Nis froze. That did sound like it could barely count as good news.
However, the core of this good news was... taking the wrong road.
Why had they taken the wrong road? Because Reynolds's memory had suddenly jammed at an intersection, and he had led them the wrong way.
Nis turned to look at Reynolds, who still seemed a little unclear about what was going on.
Earlier, he had thought Reynolds had suddenly gone stupid. Now, however, it seemed that perhaps it was not stupidity, but the "talent" on Reynolds that had taken effect.
A lucky person's wrong choice had become the fortunate choice that let them evade danger.
How should he put it? Reynolds truly deserved to be someone endowed with an existence like John's Comeback.
Kant was also watching Reynolds at this moment. Earlier, when he had heard Nis say that Reynolds had been born lucky, he had thought it was nothing more than baseless praise. Now, it seemed he might have misunderstood. Perhaps "luck" truly flowed through Reynolds's veins?
Reynolds had no idea what Kant and Nis were thinking.
