Angel was drawn by the tremendous sound as well.
Following the sound, he saw that it had come from the mysterious fruit above No. 03's head!
The moment the fruit made that sound, it swayed slightly, and its skin began to flush red.
"Thump—"
A minute later, the second sound rang out. It still resounded through the heavens, carrying a strange and terrifying wave of air that swept across vast stretches of sea. And the mysterious aura that had previously been suppressed by the attraction, hidden and unexpressed, also began to spread with the sound.
"Why does that sound seem a little like a heartbeat?" Angel murmured softly to himself.
A heartbeat? The Observer glanced at Angel. It was an apt comparison, but how could a fruit possibly have a heartbeat?
"Sir, is the fruit about to ripen?" Angel asked.
After pondering for a moment, the Observer said, "It cannot be determined. It looks as though it is about to enter another metamorphosis. Perhaps this metamorphosis represents a new stage of growth, or perhaps it means it is about to mature."
"Then is there anything we need to do now?"
The Observer said, "There is nothing to do. Wait quietly."
Angel nodded and asked no further questions. Just as the Observer had said, he quietly watched the fruit in the distance.
The fruit could undergo a new change at any moment. If he missed its disorder because of that, then this return would have been for nothing. At this point, Angel cast aside all the other cumbersome information and focused solely on the mysterious fruit.
Another minute passed, and the fruit made the sound again.
