Angel was no stranger to the "distinguished appearance" of the person before him. At the Source of Flow in Savage Cave, wizards often caused great explosions when their research and experiments went wrong. By the time they emerged, most looked much like this man.
If this person was Kael, then their earlier guess had been correct. Kael truly had been conducting experiments. Judging by the current situation, though, the results of his experiment were likely rather worrying.
The filthy-faced man before them swept his lifeless gaze around. It finally settled on Dox. "Lord Dox, why are you here? Did you trigger the spatial node just now?"
Dox did not answer immediately. Instead, concern filled his eyes. "Kael, are you all right?"
Kael shook his head. "I'm fine. There was just a small accident while I was improving a spellcasting material. One laboratory blew up, but it's fine. I still have more than ten backup laboratories below."
Kael's unconcerned attitude, coupled with what he had said, allowed both Angel and Dox to basically confirm that he was a research fanatic—the sort of madman who persisted with his research even knowing there was a huge chance that his experiments would go wrong. Otherwise, who would keep over ten laboratories as backups...?
Seeing Kael's indifferent attitude, Dox hesitated to speak. He wanted to remind Kael as a senior, but Kael had an immensely powerful mentor. Perhaps everything he did had been instructed by that mentor. After thinking it over, Dox finally managed only one sentence. "Remember to keep things within proper bounds during your experiments. If something really happens, it won't end well."
"I'll keep things within proper bounds." Kael nodded, his tone fairly sincere.
After a pause, Kael asked curiously, "What has brought Lord Dox here? Is there a problem with the
