Elsewhere, under cover of night, Angel and the others appeared soundlessly atop a tower several hundred meters from Princess Castle.
For these gifted individuals, most of whom had seen little of the world, this experience was probably the first major event of their lives. At this moment, each of them expressed the exhilaration of regaining freedom in their own way.
But for Angel, this journey had involved virtually no difficulty. It could only be counted as a minor interlude in this mission.
Yet although this operation had appeared calm and uneventful on the surface, Angel knew very well that the iceberg lurking beneath the water was enormous.
Whatever the reason, even if the princess had truly acted against Mero and the others because of Gelos, the fact that she had dared to openly seize guides from Savage Cave already said enough.
Added to that were the scenes Angel had witnessed in the prison, as well as Old Potter's claim that people regularly came to take prisoners away. All this information suggested that the Guman Kingdom might be brewing a world-shaking upheaval.
What had happened at Princess Castle might have been nothing more than an inconspicuous little scene within that great upheaval.
Angel turned back to look at the brilliantly lit Princess Castle in the distance and could not help letting out a soft sigh.
"At last, this is over," said Mero. She walked to Angel's side, but rather than standing level with him, she courteously held herself half a step back.
Angel said, "Your matter is over. But these ripples are far from settled."
Mero looked toward the streets below. At some point, many patrol guards had suddenly appeared there. "Indeed, these ripples have not yet ceased. The guards have already begun searching. It seems the princess has noticed something
