Angel walked toward the dais, the stone slab representing Black Earl floating beside him.
As he walked, Angel shared some of his deductions with Black Earl. Black Earl agreed as well. Since this place lay so close to the magic energy array in the depths of the underground labyrinth, the builders' original intentions could not have been simple.
This underground structure surely hid secrets. The only question was whether they still remained, or whether they had been worn away and withered by the years.
The dais was not large, only around ten meters in length and width. At the front center of the floor was a depression. Judging from its shape, it had once held a display stand supported by a thin pillar.
That was also a very church-like decoration.
Church display stands were generally called "lecterns," upon which religious scriptures blessed by the gods would be placed. The preacher would turn through the scriptures while expounding the doctrine to the faithful.
And a church lectern was precisely a single-pillar display stand.
This seemed to prove once more that this had once been a stage where a preacher delivered a sermon.
Yet time had flowed on. Now, the display stand was gone, leaving behind only a hollow.
At that moment, Dox was crouching before the hollow, seemingly examining something. Every now and then, he would reach in with a finger, touch the inside of the hollow, then put it into his mouth for a lick.
"Does it taste good?" Angel asked teasingly.
Dox shot Angel an irritated look. "You'll have to taste it yourself to know whether it's good."
Angel naturally would not do such a thing. Besides, he had already probed it with his spiritual power. There were no mechanisms in the hollow, no patterns, and no traces
