After entering the little house, the traveling merchant obediently stood still, silently waiting for his memories to be altered.
To others, memory alteration was terrifying and unacceptable. But to the traveling merchant, as long as he could stay alive, what did altered memories matter? Besides, the memories being altered were inconsequential matters anyway, so it mattered even less.
As for secrets buried deep in his memories... everyone had a few secrets, and the traveling merchant was no exception. But he was confident that even if memories concerning his secrets were examined, they would not draw the attention of a formal wizard.
Thus, he had nothing to fear. He was even somewhat expectant.
The traveling merchant's expectant gaze did indeed prove useful. After Angel noticed it, he pondered for a moment before saying, "You go first. I'll alter your memories of today. Afterward, you may be unconscious for a while."
The traveling merchant nodded in understanding. If they were not unconscious for a time, then upon waking and seeing Angel and the others, would he not grow suspicious again? Once suspicion arose, the matter of altered memories would soon be exposed. Therefore, they had to fall unconscious, and when they woke, they would forget the people they had met today.
As for whether the altered memories would feel unnatural, the traveling merchant was not worried either. Since the wizard before him was confident in altering memories, then after they awoke, there definitely would not be any sense of discord. Why they had fainted, why they had seen the magic craftsman here—the logic would all be self-consistent. He believed the wizard before him was capable of tying up such loose ends.
The traveling merchant took a deep breath, walked up to Angel, and closed his eyes, ready to accept the alteration of
