A lone Mind Tether connected Angel and Black Earl.
"I'll head up first." After speaking, Angel gave Black Earl a slight nod, then pushed off with his foot. Carried by the perfectly timed wind force delivered by Swift Spirit, he slowly rose into the High Sky.
Before long, Angel reached the top of the underground church.
Although the church lay underground, its roof still retained the pointed spires of a conventional church—three of them, with two small arches flanking one large one. From one of the small spires hung an inverted statue of a goddess. This statue was the filth that the inscription card "Goddess's Purification" had accumulated over the years.
Angel glanced at it before looking away.
Judging from the energy pillar projected by the main control magic pattern, its connection point lay at the large spire. That should have been where the magic patterns were most densely gathered.
After flying to the large spire, Angel did not immediately speak to Black Earl through the tether. Instead, he first surveyed his surroundings.
Like the smaller spires, the large one had a roughly conical shape, without any sharply defined cut faces.
It was pure white as a whole. Even after so many years, not a trace of filth had clung to it.
It felt smooth and warm to the touch. With a slight probe, Angel determined that the spire was made from a type of Starcolor Stone.
Starcolor Stone was a broad category of extraordinary stone. Like Demonic Blood Ore, it came in many subtypes. The differences between those subtypes could be significant, but regardless of those differences, Starcolor Stone was merely ordinary extraordinary stone. It was unlike Demonic Blood Ore, where ore stained by a god's blood and ore stained by a lesser demon's blood differed as vastly as
