"Sir, you finally appeared! We thought you..."
The moment Angel opened his eyes, he heard Wai's excited voice by his ear.
Angel first sensed his own body. Only after confirming that nothing was amiss did he ask Wai, "I disappeared earlier?"
Wai nodded vigorously. "Yes. At first, we thought you'd be like me and come to your senses in the blink of an eye. But we never expected the red light to suck you straight into that box. We waited outside for ages before you finally came out."
"Waited for ages?" Angel felt that although he had spent quite some time in the box, it should only have been around half an hour. Did that count as ages?
"Actually, you only disappeared for around three minutes." At that moment, Dox's voice came through the reconnected Mind Tether. "As for why Wai said it was a long time, probably... probably his measure of time differs from ours."
Angel frowned, not understanding what Dox meant. But it did not matter. Knowing that he had only vanished for three minutes, Angel could roughly estimate the frequency of Xixia's so-called amplification of thought-sense.
"Are you all right? Your Mind Tether was cut off too just now. You scared the hell out of me. If you hadn't come out soon, I was going to use my Red Sword to chop that damned box apart." By the end, Dox's expression was exceedingly solemn.
"Don't listen to Dox, sir. I suggested attacking that box earlier, and Dox said something might go wrong. Then I suggested sending another person in, offering up a treasure to see whether we could find you, and Dox said we should wait longer." Wai spoke with righteous indignation. "He's putting on quite a performance now, but he was the one cowering the most!"
