The group continued onward along the pitch-black, void-bound staircase.
With every step they took, the red mark lit up, turning the stair beneath their feet solid. Once they stepped onto the next stair, the one behind them slowly became a phantom again, eventually vanishing into the darkness.
It was as if they had set foot upon a stairway to heaven with no road back.
Nearly a quarter of an hour had passed since they left the platform where Xixia's Casket was located, yet they still had not seen the end of the stairs.
Moreover, the staircase sometimes spiraled upward, sometimes plunged dozens of meters like a leap from a building. Routes that turned over or ran upside down had become commonplace.
If not for the red marks continually guiding their direction, they might even have suspected that they had taken the wrong path.
They had now reached another vast looping section of stairs, which was sometimes inverted and sometimes upright. The gravitational field here was extremely chaotic; even when walking along an upside-down stretch, they felt no sensation of falling.
Halfway through this great loop, Kael suddenly asked in confusion, "Why is my mark flying in a different direction from yours?"
Since Kael had been at the back, the others had not noticed anything unusual before. Only when they heard his voice through the Mind Tether did they turn to look.
They saw Kael standing blankly on the original staircase ten meters away, while the red mark before him flickered toward another direction.
At the same time, a corresponding phantom staircase appeared in Kael's direction.
"Does this ticket actually have different routes?" Dox looked at Angel in puzzlement.
Among them, Angel had spoken with Xixia the longest. He surely knew more than they did.
Yet Angel was somewhat bewildered as
