"An illusion?" Black Earl frowned slightly but offered no further comment. Personally, he did not think an illusion was a good idea.
The elusive and ever-changing nature of illusions could indeed serve as the vanguard for a probe.
However, illusions were far more effective against creatures of the material realm than energy creatures. Likewise, they were much more effective against intelligent beings than mindless ones.
Their current guess was that the Infant Spirit was an intelligent being. But that was only a guess, after all.
In its most primitive state, an Infant Spirit was undead—a soul with muddled thoughts and nothing but malicious intent. In other words, Infant Spirits were both energy creatures and mindless creatures.
Under such circumstances, the scope of what an illusion could probe was limited. Thus, in Black Earl's view, illusions were an alternative, but by no means the optimal choice.

If Angel divided his attention to cast an illusion, it might create a flaw in the Moving Illusion here. Even if it succeeded, it could draw a targeted attack from the Infant Spirit against the illusion. When that happened, the Moving Illusion would surely become a target as well.
Dox did not want Kael or Wai to meet with an accident, especially Wai.
So, after weighing things up, Dox decided it would be better for him to personally conduct the probe.
"You were still hesitating before.
