It was an infant with no skin, its blood-red body exposed. It hung upside down, clutching the web.
Silk-like bandages were wrapped around its forehead, while below them was still raw flesh without skin. Its eyes were bulging black pupils, and its smiling mouth split all the way to its ears, revealing a pitch-black maw.
The muscles on its limbs constantly melted and regenerated, while its nails were black and sharp.
The Infant Spirit alone was already bizarre enough.
But even stranger was the fact that a thorn-covered green vine had been driven deep into the top of its skull. The exposed section of the vine bore a vivid red flower.
The red flower swayed in the wind as a great amount of crimson liquid spurted from its stamen, falling to the ground and eventually turning into hardened red wax.
When they saw the Infant Spirit and the flower, everyone felt not only unease, but also a measure of understanding.
They had previously wondered whether the web and red wax had nothing to do with the Infant Spirit, whether they were traps set by Adanis. But now, they could be certain that this was indeed the Infant Spirit's handiwork.
The web came from the bandages on the Infant Spirit's head.
The red wax was formed from the liquid dripping from that red flower.
This was the first time they had seen such a strange pairing: a flower and an Infant Spirit. Moreover, judging from the Infant Spirit's eerie smile, they truly could not tell whether the Infant Spirit controlled the flower, whether the flower housed the Infant Spirit, or whether the two simply complemented one another.
"Angel, are you planning to attack them directly?"
When the mist snake broke through the final layer of webbing, Dox voiced his doubts.
