Setting aside the future value of the Wilderness Traveler Gazette, Inspector found its content alone quite good.
For instance, its main publication, The Clash of Civilizations, had taught him about the native civilizations of the Dream Wilderness.
He had seen Dream Plant Fairies and had briefly studied their ecology. He had assumed they were like flower sprites, belonging to the fairyfolk. But only after reading The Clash of Civilizations did he realize that Dream Plant Fairies came in different kinds—and that all the greenery throughout the Dream Wilderness was actually connected to Dream Plant Fairies and the Mother Tree.
This was a truly vast native civilization. Humans like them were the intruders instead.
After finishing the main publication, Inspector could not help recalling that when the Frost Moon Alliance had begun opening up the Southern Region, the first world they visited had been a place called the Senluo Plane. It had once been a world dominated by natural fairies, but after being invaded by humans, they had risen up in resistance. In the end, Senluo's civilization and Senluo's fairies had all been wiped out.
Later, perhaps driven by guilt, or perhaps because the organization behind the Frost Moon Alliance had stepped in, the Frost Moon Alliance eventually published a lengthy reflection. It summarized the mistakes of their first frontier campaign and put forth a new philosophy for contact between civilizations: destruction was not the only choice.
After that, the Frost Moon Alliance rarely exterminated civilizations in its frontier campaigns. Even if they conquered a civilization, they would leave it a path to survival.
Though Angel's The Clash of Civilizations did not explicitly state his own views, its meaning was much the same.
It was no good for wizard civilization and Tree Civilization to stand opposed to each other.
