As Luigi looked on in confusion, Angel strode over to the floor tile where Luigi had been sitting, took out his cane, and lightly tapped the ground.
A crisp knock, knock rang out at once.
Every previous time the cane had struck a wall or tile, the sound had been dull, indicating solid ground beneath. Yet this time, the sound was so crisp, which meant there was most likely a hidden space beneath this tile.
It seemed he had overlooked what was right under his nose.
Angel silently mocked himself, but his hands did not hesitate. He gently pressed the pointed end of his cane into the seam at the tile's edge and levered it upward with deft force.
The tile flipped open smoothly, revealing a pitch-black space beneath.
The space was not large, only about half a meter square.
Other than a somewhat tattered stitched-bound notebook, there was nothing else inside the space beneath the tile.
Angel picked up the stitched-bound notebook. Though there was not a single word on its cover, there was no doubt that this was Shoke's diary.
"Huh, Shoke's notebook was actually here?" Luigi walked over, stroking his chin. "It was hidden pretty deeply. Were you looking for this just now?"
Angel said, "Whether it was hidden deeply is another matter. But the fact that you warmed it up by sitting on it is true enough."
Luigi said, "..." Was that really so exaggerated?
Watching Angel open the notebook, Luigi leaned closer as well. "You said you had something to do—was it just to read this diary? I heard from people who'd read it that there wasn't anything special in it."
