So far, Angel had personally encountered three types of special book pages: Prologues, Appendices, and the Footnotes that had now appeared.
The effects of these three kinds of special book pages were all different.
A Prologue could affect the entire magic book. For example, "Prologue: Co-Frequency" allowed all the different series within a magic book to share a single energy bar.
An Appendix could be understood as affecting a single page in the magic book. For instance, Angel's "Appendix: Viralization" caused all the abilities on the Traffic Bat page to gain "Viralization" variants.
The Footnote that had now appeared had a far smaller range of influence than a Prologue or an Appendix. It could only affect one specific skill on a particular page.
Though it only targeted a specific skill, that did not mean a Footnote was weaker than a Prologue or an Appendix.
One could even say that Footnotes were sometimes more flexible than Appendices and Prologues.
Why was that?
Take "Appendix: Viralization," for example. When Angel had wanted to test the effects of this Appendix, he had initially chosen the Fashion Cutter. Why had he ultimately attached it to the Traffic Bat instead?
Because there were some abilities he did not dare alter.
Take the "Golden Scissors" ability. It was already nearly perfect. If it became "Golden Scissors: Viralization," then regardless of the effect, it would be difficult for it to be more suitable than it was now.
But if one used an "Appendix," those perfect abilities would also be affected by the Appendix, eventually turning strange and bizarre.
But "Footnotes" were different.
A Footnote only targeted one specific ability. There was no need to worry that, like with an "Appendix," every ability on the page would change.
That way, one could flexibly choose which ability to compile.
