But nearly seventy percent of those visitors had gone to the underground area. Of the small remainder still on the surface, almost all were headed for the dogfighting ring.
The battlefield, shooting range, and arena had all nearly fallen into disuse.
As for the reason, according to Angel's understanding, it was largely due to outside competition.
The Wandering House had opened a "Simulated Arena" in Eighth Town. Located beneath Grave Street, it was an indoor arena, but it covered an enormous area and offered not only individual competitions, but team competitions as well.
The Ruins Battlefield was, in fact, also a form of "team competition," a live-action role-playing battle.
Once the Wandering House opened the Simulated Arena, it naturally formed a competitive relationship with the Ruins Battlefield.
Though Ruins Battlefield was merely a name, it lived up to it completely. This place was a genuine stretch of ruins, with virtually no high-tech methods to speak of.
Even communication had to rely on shouting, coordination depended entirely on eye contact, and whether an enemy had been successfully "killed" could only be determined afterward by checking whether they had been stained with ammunition paint.
Everything was exceedingly primitive.
The "Simulated Arena," on the other hand, was nothing like that. Not only was it vast, it could also simulate all kinds of scenes through holographic projections.
Every participant received a holographic map upon entering, and the map marked the positions of friendly personnel as well as the number of enemies.
Battle coordination could also be carried out through special communicators installed around the arena.
Most crucially, above the Simulated Arena was a kill leaderboard visible to everyone. Whenever someone successfully "killed" an enemy member, it would immediately appear on the leaderboard.
