After a spell of silence.
"After waiting so long, has that person replied to you?"
Vera softly asked as she stirred her coffee with a spoon.
Lizi shook her head. "Not yet."
Not long after Vera had arranged to meet her at the café, Lizi had revealed the information about "Angel."
Angel had instructed her to do so beforehand. If Vera came to ask, there was no need to conceal anything.
After learning Angel's name, Vera had been puzzled, but she had not pressed for details right away. Instead, she had asked Lizi to help contact him.
Naturally, Lizi had not dared refuse. Earlier, she had activated Nightmare Illusion while using the restroom, attempting to contact Angel.
Yet even now, Angel had not replied.
Vera nodded placidly, showing no impatience. Instead, she asked with mild curiosity, "What kind of person is he?"
Although Lizi had revealed Angel's name and stated that Angel had asked her to investigate information on Alfred,
she had disclosed absolutely nothing else.
Lizi pondered for a moment. "...He is someone worthy of respect."
Respect? Vera raised an eyebrow.
She had considered many possibilities. For instance, Lizi might say he was handsome and dashing, refined and eloquent, or humorous and witty... Each corresponded to deceiving the body, deceiving the ears, and deceiving the heart.
This was also Vera's subconscious image of Angel. In her eyes, Lizi was a rational person. If she had chosen to help Angel, she must have been deceived.
But Lizi's answer was vastly different from what she had imagined.
"Respect." Vera curled her lips. "That is a very interesting answer."
Either Angel was truly worthy of respect, or... his skill at deception had reached an even higher level.
The former was not worth considering, because if someone who could earn Lizi's respect truly
