Angel spent another two hours observing her on and off.
Throughout those two hours, she remained the same cheerful, kindly little old lady, respected and loved by the townsfolk.
She did nothing out of character, either. Angel found it hard to tell whether she truly remembered nothing or whether something else was going on.
Since he could detect nothing unusual about her, Angel had to look elsewhere.
For instance, where had the medicinal broth in the vat gone? And where was the house's protective barrier?
But even knowing what he was looking for, Angel found no clues.
A whole vat of medicinal broth had simply vanished without a trace... And he could not find the mechanism that activated the house's protective barrier, either.
The less he found, the more Angel felt there was something extraordinary about this little old lady.
Could she be the Childlike Demon?
Angel thought back over the details he had noticed about her. She had shown two very different sides, but neither quite fit the Childlike Demon's personality.
The Childlike Demon loved games and lived for amusement.
Even if the Childlike Demon's consciousness was asleep, its love of games would still influence its host.
Yet when the little old lady went into town, she showed no interest in "games" whatsoever.
So Angel leaned toward believing she was not the Childlike Demon.
If she was not the Childlike Demon, though, why were there so many mysteries surrounding her?
Angel pondered for a while but still could not make sense of it.
Just then, a ripple appeared in the mist near the hero statue.
Angel drew his thoughts and vision away from the Box Garden Instance and slowly looked toward the ring of mist outside.
