Nereid's elemental backlash left it howling and writhing on the ground for a full two minutes.
That alone showed how badly the backlash had hurt it.
While it rolled and cried out, Angel activated his god's-eye view and looked inside its body.
He had wanted to do this during the Dreamscape version.
But that version had worked differently: entering god's-eye view had automatically pulled him out of the Nightmare Dream. Only now, with his real body inside the stage, could he finally do it.
From that vantage point, Angel saw the elemental backlash inside Nereid with perfect clarity.
A moment later, he snapped his fingers.
To Gray Porcelain and Rabbit Girl, Nereid suddenly looked a little different.
A long health bar had appeared above its head out of thin air.
The bar had an outer frame and an inner fill.
The outer frame marked its maximum health, with a scale from 0 to 100% showing Nereid's full health threshold. Inside it, a red fill expanded or contracted with its health, displaying exactly how much remained.
90%!
That was Nereid's current health!
Gray Porcelain and Rabbit Girl were familiar with health bars. Angel had given Nereid one during the simulated battle, too.
"Did you put that health bar there, sir?" Gray Porcelain asked Angel. "Is it accurate?"
Angel nodded. "Yes, I added it. As for the number... it should be accurate too."
He had examined Nereid's body through god's-eye view to build a health-bar model, so they could track changes in its health at a glance.
Taken by itself, it was not a particularly useful feature.
But for Challengers, having it made the fight feel entirely different.
Before, they could only guess at Nereid's injuries from its roars and struggles. They had been stumbling through fog, unable even to make out
