Which of these three groups was most likely connected to the living dead?
Hard to say.
But Angel personally felt that the bandits warranted special attention, because... the entrance to the cave where they hid was a "tree hollow."
At the center of a dead tree tangled with gnarled branches and creeping vines, a pitch-black opening stood wide open. Above it sat a sleeping lion-faced statue.
That was right. This tree hollow was exactly identical to the crystalline creation representing the Mist Swamp Instance.
Generally speaking, the crystalline creation representing an Instance entrance was closely tied to that Instance's main storyline.
For example, the crystalline creation for the Modern City Instance was the Prada Media Company building. And Modern City's main storyline did indeed revolve around the Beauty Pageant Show hosted by Prada Media Company.
By the same logic, since the entrance where the bandits hid matched the crystalline dead tree outside, the bandits' existence was most likely inseparable from the main storyline as well.
However, Angel did not share this intelligence with Kemei. For one thing, it would be difficult to explain where the information had come from.
Transmitting his voice to Kemei across the distance would not be too shocking, but directly seizing core Instance intelligence from afar would be a bit much.
For another, the direction in which the "caravan" Kemei was tracking was traveling happened to take them past the tree hollow.
