Angel froze for a moment at those words.
As he moved among the Diamonds, he had indeed intended to use the shadowy outlines within them to make a preliminary selection of examiners.
In his view, creatures with humanoid outlines, even if their values and positions differed somewhat from his own, would not be so outrageous as to be incomprehensible. But if they were alien races, or even beings whose forms of life were utterly different from humans, then their values and positions would most likely be entirely unfamiliar to him. The risk of dealing with them was simply too high.
Yet the Little Demon host's words gave him pause.
If the figures inside the Diamonds had no connection whatsoever to the examiners' appearances, then his method of judging by silhouettes was hardly reliable.
What should he do?
Angel's gaze involuntarily settled on the Little Demon host.
The look it gave Angel still carried a lofty contempt and mockery.
Angel did not care in the slightest. If being mocked could reveal more information, he did not mind letting it mock him a few more times.
Its earlier words had already revealed some information—the Diamonds were called "Sealing Steles," and it had sealed them away with its own hands.
Did that mean the Little Demon host knew the identities of the examiners inside like the back of its hand?
Angel narrowed his eyes.
Perhaps he could use this to probe it.
An idea arose in Angel's mind. Under the Little Demon host's watchful gaze, he walked step by step toward a nearby Diamond. Within it was a blurry figure.
Angel stretched out his hand as if to touch it.
But just as he was about to make contact with the Diamond, Angel withdrew his hand.
