The Chaos Bell rang once, shaking the vast myriad worlds of space and time and throwing the ages of the heavens into turmoil.
Under the will contained in that bell toll, the countless, densely packed elite soldiers of the Heavenly River—drawn from innumerable races and organized into armies by combining their racial talents according to the principles of the Great Dao—began retreating like a receding tide from beneath the towering, indestructible city walls.
The Human Race soldiers guarding this frontier pass, their armor already stained in all sorts of colors by the foul blood of demons, had fought desperately without rest or sleep for countless days and nights. When they saw their enemies retreating across the mountains and plains, their minds reeled, and the breath they had been holding finally escaped.
Once that breath escaped, many soldiers immediately passed away. Their bodies suddenly dissolved into a sky full of radiant rain. It was the burning of what remained of their souls and bodies, yet strangely, it possessed little killing power. It carried only warmth and blessings, falling upon their comrades, smoothing their wounds and soothing the pain in their souls.
They were too tired!
Tired unto death!
They had suffered far too many injuries!
They had relied solely on a trace of resolve to fight to the death and persisted until now!
The battles here had stretched from heaven to earth. The Demon Clan army had launched attacks at any cost, and when the fighting grew intense, even the Human Race's reserve forces had been forced onto the front lines.
