Background / History

The Human Race is defined by its path rather than its body: beings who strive to improve themselves, balance rights with responsibilities, and retain recognition of the Human path are human regardless of physical form, bloodline, or cultivation method. Houtu's doctrine holds that one who enters demonhood may become a demon, yet remains human if they do not forget their roots; conversely, a demon who embraces the Human path may become human. 5

This identity is closely bound to the Witch Clan. Houtu describes the Witch Clan's destiny as the Human Race's destiny, while later Human Race doctrine calls humanity the Witch Clan's root and the Witch Clan its guardian across time and space. 87 320 The Ancestral Witches support humanity because they seek to create a race of upward-striving beings capable of transforming the violent Primordial Era into a better world. 19

Nuwa formally created the Human Race at Mount Buzhou after preparing a sacrificial altar connected to the River of Time. She meticulously fashioned human bodies according to the laws of the Primordial Era, then announced their birth to all living beings. 292 293 Her proclamation drew immense golden Merit, publicly establishing the race as a major new force. 293

The newly created race immediately faced pressure from the Yao Race's Heavenly Court. The Witch Clan responded indirectly, using disguised Grand Unity-level support to help the Human Race establish its first century plan without compromising its stated independence. 298 Human sages rejected Heavenly Court inducements and intimidation, instead pursuing independent development, external investment, and alliances. 299 300

Humanity is an ideological and spiritual category, not a fixed biological classification. Transformation into a dragon, phoenix, Buddhist golden body, or another life-form does not revoke one's human identity if one continues to recognize and uphold the Human path. 5
