Nature and Origin

Immortal Qi is the foundational power cultivated by Qi Refiners. The Mountain and Sea Twelve Immortal Qi are the twelve most common forms passed down from the Mountains and Seas Era, each possessing different properties and associated cultivation paths. 6

According to the account related by Chu Huo Gun, the first human Ancient Sage attained immortality after accidentally absorbing a wisp of Immortal Qi from a dead Mountain Sea Exotic Beast. Later Ancient Sages hunted Mountain Sea Exotic Beasts for their Qi, driving many species extinct and ushering in the era of Qi Refiners. 6

The first Qi Refiner realm, Ascension, involves cultivating a breathing method until the body undergoes a fundamental rebirth and nurtures its first wisp of Immortal Qi. A complete Ascension normally produces a body with roughly two thousand jin of strength, though exceptional cultivators can far exceed this. 6

The Twelve Immortal Qi mutually reinforce and restrain one another, making simultaneous cultivation inherently dangerous. Most Qi Refiners specialize in a single type; dual-Qi cultivation is already rare, while higher numbers demand exponentially greater time, talent, and resources. 34 54
