Cypher and Alice moved forward step by step along the beam.
Suddenly, Alice let out a startled cry.
Cypher hurriedly turned back.
He saw Alice clutching a pitch-black, duck-billed creature in both hands.
"A Niffler?!"
Cypher was pleasantly surprised.
If a Niffler appeared in a place like this, it had to be the one Newt had brought!
Cypher hurried over and took the little creature from Alice's hands.
The girl finally freed up her hands.
She quickly rubbed her ear.
"You know this little thing? It yanked my ear so hard it hurt!"
It turned out the Niffler had taken a liking to Alice's earring.
Under Cypher's intimidation, the Niffler looked at them both with innocent little eyes.
It focused especially hard on acting cute for Alice.
Once it won Alice over, it naturally earned both their forgiveness.
Still, this little Niffler's stealth abilities were incredible. It had crawled all the way onto Alice without her noticing.
Having fallen into Cypher's hands, the Niffler clearly knew there was no hope of getting anything from either of them.
The despondent Niffler seemed to have lost all meaning in life.
Held one-handed by Cypher, it did not struggle at all. It simply drooped like a puddle of slime.
"Where's Newt?"
Cypher gave it a shake, but the Niffler remained half-dead.
"This is your reward! Now hurry up and tell me! Where's Newt?"
Cypher casually pulled out a glittering gemstone, and the Niffler instantly came back to life.
Under Cypher's helpless gaze and Alice's sparkling-eyed stare, its little paw snatched the gem at lightning speed and stuffed it into its pouch.
It was very satisfied with its haul.
The Niffler opened its flat mouth and made an incomprehensible sound, as though it wanted to say something.
