Background / History
Cypher grew up at Corlin Road Orphanage in Cokeworth after transmigrating with memories of a previous life. Before learning that he had entered the wizarding world, he suspected his new world might be connected to Marvel because spoken incantations did not appear necessary for magic. His admission letter and Dumbledore's arrival confirmed Hogwarts' existence 2.
Even before enrollment, Cypher displayed unusual instinctive magic. When startled by Dumbledore's approach, he had already produced a spell that bound or manipulated wooden vines; during the Gringotts attack, he used the wandless Mage Hand to intercept an explosion's debris and protect Iris 1 7.
At Hogwarts, Cypher quickly formed a close group with Iris Fergus and Luna. The three made the Room of Requirement their shared secret base, practiced spells together, and developed methods of mental communication through the Mind Palace 21 94. His rapid progress earned attention from professors and peers, but Dumbledore warned him that arrogance and isolation could change his heart 22.
Cypher's early school years were marked by recurring attacks, conspiracies, and clashes with Dark Wizards. He fought Charles in the Forbidden Forest, learned to treat a confirmed enemy as prey in a life-or-death confrontation, and later exposed Bimon Fergus's attempt to open the Hellgate beneath Hogwarts 58 90. His suspicions of Tom Riddle began early and developed into an open academic and magical rivalry 26 71 220.
After his dragon transformation, Cypher gained tremendous reserves of magic but also faced recurring problems with bestial instinct, magical seals, and physical strain. He increasingly compensated through Alchemy, magical devices, close-quarters combat, and the Sword of Gryffindor 71 76 277.
His later journeys took him beyond Britain—to Atlantis, the Alps, the Sealed Grounds, and the Dragon Kingdom—where he encountered Merlin's Horcrux, Alice, the Guardians of Order, and forces connected to Tiamat. In the Dragon Kingdom, he broke his seal, developed Virtualization, and completed a bloodline evolution 255 311 340 342 344.
Appearance
Cypher is a black-haired young wizard whose eyes can glow blue when using perception magic or shift into Dragon Eyes when drawing on his bloodline 138 294. By the confrontation with Ross Steve, he is described as a little over 1.7 meters tall 340.
- Dragon Eyes — Obsidian-like eyes that perceive magical fluctuations, operate in darkness, and reveal hidden phenomena 142 159.
- Black dragon form — A roughly two-meter-long young black dragon with wings and scales; it possesses powerful magical reserves but initially acts on instinct 118.
- Virtualized dragon state — Retains a human-sized body while gaining black scales, claws, wing-like appendages, and small horn-bumps 342.
- Typical clothing — Often favors casual clothes or a black trench coat rather than standard Hogwarts robes 76 85.
Personality
Cypher is observant, analytical, and habitually cautious. He scrutinizes magical traces, inconsistencies in behavior, hidden mechanisms, and the motives of allies and enemies alike. This vigilance protects him from deception, but it also makes him reluctant to reveal suspicions until he has proof 85 98 166.
He is protective toward those he considers his own, especially Iris, Luna, Cassandra, and later Alice. His desire to protect Iris and Luna enables his first successful Patronus; he enters Iris's mind to confront her Obscurus and repeatedly prioritizes Cassandra's safety during their escape from the Shadow Empire 45 61 155 156.
In battle, Cypher can become ruthless once he judges an opponent to be an irreconcilable threat. He does not enjoy striking first, but he is willing to kill, use Fiendfyre, exploit an enemy's weaknesses, or sacrifice caution when survival demands it 58 323 328. Outside combat, he retains a dry sense of humor, an interest in practical magical technology, and a tendency to compare magical problems to concepts from his previous life 99 173.

Mage Hand and Telekinesis
Cypher's Mage Hand is a wandless telekinetic spell driven by magic and conviction.

Ice Magic
Ice Magic is Cypher's most natural elemental affinity and one of his principal offensive disciplines.

- Can create an Ice Soul Sword directly from his hand for close combat 360.
Fiendfyre and Fire Magic
Cypher can create, shape, and dismiss Fiendfyre with unusually high control.
- Uses Fiendfyre as a defense-breaking tool against powerful foes and magical creatures 128 162.
- Can embed Fiendfyre into arrows, ice blades, or close-range attacks to compensate for its spreading speed 156.

- Combining Patronus power and Fire Magic produces red-and-white holy fire effective against Chaos creatures 322.
Patronus Charm
Cypher's Patronus is strongly tied to his protective instincts and dragon bloodline.
- His first successful Patronus takes the form of a lizard 45.
- In Iris's mindscape, it manifests as a dragon and allows him to fight the Obscurus 62.
- Uses Patronus magic to warn Hogwarts Prefects remotely 233.
- Infuses Patronus power into the Sword of Gryffindor to destroy dark energy within golems and Iron Guardians 302 305.
Mental Magic
Cypher is proficient in Legilimency, Occlumency, perception techniques, and the Mind Palace.
- Enters Iris's mind through Legilimency and helps her confront the Obscurus 61 62.
- Uses Occlumency to block unwanted mental noise and resist or organize dangerous memories 173 233.
- Creates Mental Tremor, a modified Legilimency that repeatedly intrudes on an enemy's mind without extracting information 156.
- Uses the Mind Palace to share thoughts, coordinate combat, and synchronize complex crafting with allies 94 235 364.
- His mental strength lets him resist Grindelwald's pressure and withstand multiple Imperius Curses and illusion techniques 358 365.
Dragon Bloodline and Transformation
Cypher's magical creature bloodline grants extreme physical ability, a second magic source, and dragon-specific traits.
- Activates Dragon Eyes for dark vision and magical-fluctuation detection 159.
- Can partially manifest Dragon Claws and other dragon traits 140.
- His black dragon form can fly, absorb lightning energy, and vastly increase magical reserves 118.
- The Second Heart serves as a separate magic source connected to his dragon nature 168 233.
- Virtualization accesses dragon magic without the mass and vulnerability of full transformation, but demands precise control and resistance to bestial instincts 342.
Combat and Mobility
Cypher combines spellcasting, Transfiguration, physical strength, flight, and teleportation into a highly adaptive combat style.
- Uses Transfiguration to ride or reshape the ground for movement, including travel along castle walls 76 78.
- Fights effectively at close range with the Sword of Gryffindor, Ice Soul Sword, and dragon-enhanced physical strength 301 360.
- Uses Elven magic for short-range combat teleportation and aerial ambushes 156.
- Can coordinate with a broom pilot while teleporting to enemies' flight paths and attacking at point-blank range 156.
- Defeats Heavy Assault Troopers by targeting their power source rather than their armor 330.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
