Cypher finished reading the diary and closed the notebook.
There was nothing in it about the guards betraying Newt.
In fact, Newt had not even encountered the guards in the diary.
Then what made Newt say the guards had defected?
Something must have happened that had not been recorded in the notebook.
If there was a question, ask it. Do not keep it bottled up.
He looked toward the source of the scuffling noises.
Newt and the Zouwu were rolling around on the ground, tussling with each other.
Though Cypher felt somewhat awkward about interrupting their childish play,
figuring out who the enemy was as soon as possible took priority.
"Newt! What makes you say the guards of Dragon Island are colluding with the Chaos faction?"
Newt, who was rolling around on the ground, heard Cypher calling for him loudly.
He struggled free of the big cat Zouwu's embrace and climbed to his feet in a miserable state.
But the big cat still looked unwilling to let things go.
It clamped onto Newt's Wizard Robe and kept tugging at it.
No matter how Newt coaxed and pleaded, he could not make the unsatisfied big cat release him.
At last, Newt had a flash of inspiration. He pointed at Cypher, reminding the big cat that Cypher wanted to discuss something with him.
The big cat's large, smiling eyes followed Newt's gesture.
It immediately let go and sat down obediently, looking perfectly well-behaved.
Thus, with Cypher's intimidating presence, Newt successfully escaped his role as a cat servant.
He let out a long breath. As he jogged over to Cypher, he cast cleaning charms and other spells on himself to tidy up his appearance.
It was clear that, because he dealt with Magical Creatures every day,
Newt did this sort of thing often.
