That precise shot from a distant point directly kicked off the night's events.

As Tatam exclaimed in amazement, Maud calmly reloaded.

The dozen or so seconds needed to reload were enough for the Sharp Bull Pirates to react. Each one made his own judgment and hid behind what he considered suitable cover.

This was an unavoidable drawback for now.

With modern firearms, Maud was confident he could knock down several more targets within those ten seconds, before they could reach cover.

"You all keep an eye on your surroundings."

Maud gave them a reminder, then focused on taking aim at his next prey.

One of the flintlock's drawbacks was that its muzzle flash and smoke were quite conspicuous.

After the first shot, the gunshot would not only alarm the people nearby, but also expose the general direction of his position.

But it was only a general direction.

Thus, the Sharp Bull Pirates had hastily chosen less-than-perfect cover, leaving their bodies more or less exposed to the firing line.

With Tatam and Wolf Rat around, Maud did not need to worry about movements nearby for the time being. He focused on searching for his next target.

Soon, Maud spotted someone with half his body exposed. After taking aim, however, he did not immediately pull the trigger.
