Another Way to Solve the Problem
The city was in chaos.
The city is quite large, divided into several districts, with roads crisscrossing it like a spider web. A Star Array runs through the city, dividing it into east and west banks.
The survivors are mainly concentrated on the west bank.
There are many bridges connecting the east and west banks, but many of them became part of the city's memory and history during the "Giant Beast Calamity" and the subsequent series of calamities.
Currently, only one bridge is still passable.
However, this bridge was clearly controlled by a faction in the city, and when the survivors arrived at the bridge in various vehicles, they were stopped.
They were told that they would only be allowed to cross the bridge after some important figures had left.
This led to a conflict.
But the conflict ended quickly.
The reason is simple: the other side had guns, and more than one.
After a burst of gunfire and the fall of more than a dozen survivors, despite having a numerical advantage, the lack of command and leadership rendered them disorganized and helpless, leaving them only able to gaze longingly at the bridge.
Here, blocked by tall buildings, the survivors could not see the giant beast or the mechs, only the distant roars and the roar of guns and cannons.
Given the current environment,
As many people were speculating about who was fighting the behemoth, the ground began to shake.
A little girl with pigtails and a dirty face was clinging to her father's neck in fear.
Suddenly, the little girl saw a huge figure emerge from behind a building in the distance.
It was a red mecha with a slender design, like a woman.
The main paint scheme is vermilion with white patterns, and there are two armor plates on the back that resemble insect wings.
It is indeed a "Red Moth".
"Daddy, look, a big robot!"
The girl with pigtails pointed at the mecha.
Her father turned around, saw the mecha, and immediately became excited. "Look everyone, the mecha is here! We're saved!"
Four years have passed since the natural disaster, and these survivors, through witnessing or hearing about it, are aware of the existence of the mechs.
They knew that mechs were humanoid weapons used to fight giant beasts.
Now that they have seen the "Red Moth," they are naturally overjoyed.
Inside the cockpit of the "Red Moth," Lin Wei saw people gathered on the shore but not crossing the bridge. Puzzled, she turned on the mecha's external speaker and spoke.
Why don't you cross the river?
"Hurry up and get out of here."
"My classmates are fighting the giant beast right now, buying you time. Hurry up and get moving!" Hearing Lin Wei's words, the survivors all looked towards the bridgehead, where a man with a mustache was sweating profusely, but still raised his rifle and shouted.
"Don't move!"
Our boss is almost here.
"Don't forget, you guys are protected by us, 'Spark.' Without us, you would have become the dung of giant beasts long ago!"
"Now that something's happened, of course our 'Spark' people should be the first to leave!"
"Anyone who dares to come closer, I'll kill them!"
As they were talking, gunshots rang out in the distance. People looked over and saw a convoy arriving along the way.
The convoy consisted of two long trailers with towering cargo boxes that clearly exceeded the bridge's height limit, and were stopped by the bridge's height restriction barrier.
Currently, some people are removing the height restriction barriers to allow trucks to pass, but this is clearly not something that can be resolved in a short time.
The survivors then began to point fingers.
"Are you kidding me? You're dismantling the height restriction road now? Isn't that wasting everyone's time?"
"The giant beast is coming after us, why don't you let us go first?"
At that moment, a figure climbed onto a long trailer.
He was a tall, burly man.
A man raised a rifle and opened fire on the crowd, startling them into screaming and retreating, clearing a space for them.
The man yelled at the top of his lungs, "You trash, what are you shouting about!"
"I'm telling you, if I'm not leaving today, none of you are leaving either!"
"If any of these bastards dare to come up and cause trouble again, kill them all!"
One by one, burly men jumped off the vehicle, raised their rifles, pointed them at the civilians, and forced them back.
Just then, a shadow appeared above the convoy, and a mech arrived nearby. Shen Yu's voice rang out from inside the mech. "What are you all dawdling for at a time like this? Hurry up and cross the bridge!"
The man on the truck roared, "Where did you come from? Since you have mechs, hurry up and take care of those behemoths behind us, or we won't have to leave!"
The mech raised its finger and pointed to the sky. "Look above you. The Jambu Realm Space hasn't disappeared yet. Giant beasts could be released into this area at any time."
"It's not safe here..."
Before the words had even finished...
Suddenly, gunshots rang out behind Shen Yu's mech. The man standing on the long trailer on the ground, along with the truck, was blasted into pieces by bullets specifically designed for use against giant beasts.
Several shots rang out in succession.
The long trailer and the "Spark" vehicle behind it all exploded and were smashed to pieces. People screamed and fled. When the explosions stopped and the gunfire ceased, they realized that it was the red machine that had fired the shots.
Then Lin Wei's voice rang out from "Red Moth": "The problem is solved, can you leave now?"
Inside the driver's seat, Shen Yu was sweating profusely. He hadn't expected Lin Wei to solve the problem this way.
Seeing that his boss and the convoy had been shot down by the mechs, the man with the mustache on the bridge dared not stop them any longer and quickly ordered the roadblocks to be removed so that the survivors could pass.
Finally, the survivors crossed the bridge one by one and headed to the other side.
It's evening.
A long line of vehicles traveled across the land, and on either side of the line, mechs moved like giants across the wilderness, protecting the survivors as they moved.
Inside the cockpit of the "Bi'an," Wei Fenghua's voice came through the communication channel. "There's a Surface Base ahead. I've contacted them, and they've agreed to temporarily take in these survivors."
"Let's rest near the base for now, and set off again tomorrow."
No one objected to the Director of Studies's decision.
As night fell, the survivors arrived at a Surface Base, finding temporary shelter.
The next day.
As the Academy's convoy prepared to depart, cars drove out of the base and arrived at the Academy's camp.
Many vehicles drove out of the base, and a large number of survivors surrounded the camp. Inside, several selected representatives climbed onto the vehicles and shouted to the Academy Camp.
"Thank you all from the Hundred Battles Academy for everything you did yesterday."
"Furthermore, we heard from the people at the base that you come from Underground City."
"It's safe there, everyone has a job, and they don't have to worry about food."
"Could you take us with you? We're strong and can do any kind of work."
Wei Fenghua stepped forward, slightly boosted his Primal Energy, and then said, "I'm sorry, everyone, we are unable to help you with your requests."
"We are merely faculty and students of an Academy; we have no right to make any decisions for Undercity."
"Furthermore, the Undercity has limited space and can only accommodate a limited number of residents. Currently, the number of residents in the Undercity has far exceeded the city's capacity."
"We simply cannot accept any more of you."
The crowd fell silent for a moment.
Suddenly someone rushed out and shouted, "Why!"
Why won't they accept us?!
"We're only a few people, and you're already exceeding your capacity, so what's the harm in taking a few more of us?"
