A Group Returns to the Eastern Lands, Sanzang Expounds the True Scriptures

Sect Master Tongtian and the others used their divine abilities, soaring through the sky amid clouds and mist. In less than half a day, they had already returned to the Eastern Lands of Great Tang on the Eastern Continent.

The imperial capital, Chang'an!

Seeing Sect Master Tongtian and the others descend from the sky, Li Shimin, who had been waiting for quite some time, led all the civil and military officials and countless citizens of Chang'an to welcome Tang Sanzang and his companions home!

The entire city of Chang'an had become incomparably noisy and lively because Tang Sanzang had returned after obtaining the true scriptures!

Little White Dragon had never witnessed such a grand spectacle. For a moment, he was incredibly excited.

Thinking that he would soon gain his freedom and receive a position from the Western Teachings, and that no one would ever look down on or slight him again, his heart surged with passion. He was even so agitated that he could barely contain himself!

Marshal Tian Peng and General Juanlian were not particularly excited. They had long since expected this to happen.

What they did next was the truly important part.

King Tang, Li Shimin, used this grand ceremony to welcome Tang Sanzang's return. Immediately afterward, the sound of Buddhist chanting rang out in the heavens.

It turned out that Amitabha Buddha had begun conferring positions upon those who had journeyed west to obtain the scriptures!

Tang Sanzang was conferred the title of Sandalwood Merit Buddha, Sun Wukong became the Victorious Fighting Buddha, Sha Wujing became the Golden Body Arhat, Zhu Bajie became the Altar Cleanser, and Little White Dragon became the Eight Divisions Heavenly Dragon.

This was exactly the same as the conferrals in the original Journey to the West. Not a single thing had changed!
