The voice was hoarse and indistinct, as if the speaker had a wad of old phlegm lodged in his throat.
"Hmm, look what I found. A wizard I've never seen before, sneaking into Saint Louis City and speaking with the former eldest daughter of the Pombo Family. Could you tell me what you discussed just now? Was it related to the coming operation to destroy Saint Louis City?"
Richard frowned and turned to look behind him, where he saw a Black Robe Wizard standing.
His thoughts raced. After only a few glances, Richard pieced everything together. If nothing unexpected had happened, this man had once been a wizard of the Pombo Family and was now standing against them.
The man was probably not weak. When Richard had left with Annie earlier, he had not made much effort to conceal himself, so the man had been able to follow some of the spell traces he left behind all the way here—though he was already several hours late.
Judging by his appearance, he was probably at the peak of Level 2 Wizard or perhaps Level 3 Wizard.
So how should he deal with him? Kill him outright? That did not seem necessary. After all, they had no direct conflict of interest. Killing him would only stir up trouble in Saint Louis City, where Spider Web had arrangements in place. Richard still intended to cooperate with Spider Web afterward. If he disrupted their plans, it might cause a bit of trouble, and it would be difficult to explain to Black-Faced Old Man Oscar as well.
