Before long, Barry learned exactly whom Richard was sending.
Three days later, in the Council Hall of the Ancestral Spirit Society Headquarters, Barry led all the Ancestral Spirit Society's upper ranks—including Moses and the other Old Men—in giving the visitor a grand reception.
Although Barry kept telling himself to remain composed, he still could not help but freeze for a moment when he saw the visitor.
A very young woman—perhaps even a girl—walked in.
She looked around seventeen or eighteen, with short hair cut to her ears and a tomboyish air of heroism about her. Her gaze was sharp as she strode inside and swiftly swept her eyes across everyone present.
Barry looked at her, his brows rising slightly. Especially when he sensed the intensity of the mana fluctuations within her, he could not help pursing his lips.
She seemed to be only a Level 1 Wizard, not even as strong as him. Wasn't that a little too weak? The difference between her and Richard's previous strength was far too great.
Could she be an impostor?
As he pondered this, the woman looked over.
"Let me introduce myself. I'm Annie, sent by Richard to discuss some matters with you. You're Barry, right? If you can make decisions here, then we can speak directly," Annie said.
"Wait a moment. Don't be in such a hurry." Barry stood up with a frown and walked toward Annie. "How can you prove that Richard sent you?"
"What, you doubt my identity?" Annie's eyes narrowed.
"Don't misunderstand. I don't want to do this either. It's just that your level appears to be only that of a Level 1 Wizard. There's simply too great a difference between that cultivation and Richard's..."
"Do you know that levels do not always represent everything? Although I am indeed a
