"Breathe—in—"
Richard took deep breaths, reached out to massage the carotid artery on the outside of his throat, stimulating the surrounding nerves to slow his heartbeat. Then, nearly crawling across the floor, he slowly moved toward the corner of the room, grabbed a wooden bucket there, and forcefully tipped it over. The water inside poured out and soaked his entire body, lowering his surface temperature, reducing his metabolism, and slowing his heartbeat. But it had yet to fall to a normal rate.
Richard had no choice but to move toward another corner, where the suitcase he had brought was placed. There were medicines in it that could lower his heart rate.
"Breathe—in—"
"Breathe—in—"
Richard struggled to keep his emotions from fluctuating and prevent his heartbeat from speeding up as he inched forward centimeter by centimeter.
Just then, footsteps sounded at the door. Pandora had heard the unusual noises in the room and ran in from outside, widening her eyes as she looked at Richard from the doorway.
Richard no longer had the strength to explain much. He merely pointed at the suitcase.
Pandora's eyes flickered. A moment later, she jogged over to the suitcase, opened it, took out a test tube, and held it out to Richard.
Their eyes met. Richard felt even worse and shook his head.
Pandora immediately tossed the test tube aside, took out a beaker from the suitcase, and offered it to Richard.
Richard felt even more miserable and shook his head again.
Pandora searched for a third time and found a bottle of Sulfuric Acid.
Richard felt that drinking it would only make him die faster, so he firmly shook his head.
Pandora searched a fourth time and found a bottle of Caustic Soda. A fifth time, a sixth time, a seventh time...
