"Yes, something else." Richard nodded. "Besides what I mentioned, another point to consider is that, under certain circumstances, a private force can have a backlash on the individual.

If the purpose of developing a private force is to help oneself, then once it has been developed, it will inevitably be made to provide services in some regard and take responsibility for things one once did personally. Leaving aside whether the private force does a good job, there is no denying that if it runs into any problems, it will greatly affect its owner.

The larger a private force becomes, the more likely all sorts of problems are to arise. Even if a great deal of effort is invested to prevent them, conflicts of interest or deliberate attacks by enemies can still cause trouble."

"So you'll never develop a private force?" Lich Old Man frowned. "You can't possibly be saying private forces are completely useless, can you?"

"Of course not." Richard shook his head. "I understand very well that sometimes, the role of a private force cannot be ignored. It can serve as a multiplier and shorten the path to success. I will eventually develop a private force, perhaps even on a large scale, but before that, I've chosen the research route."

"The research route? What is that supposed to mean?"

"To put it simply, I'm exploring this world and trying to understand certain things. Only after exploring to the end can I determine exactly what I need a private force to help me do.

For example, a few years ago, I might have only used them to help me produce some simple chemical reagents. Now, I might have them help me purify Uranium Element. Later, I might have them use exhaustive methods
