Book of the Void

The room remained silent for a long while. In the end, Pandora broke the frozen atmosphere. She wrinkled her nose, wearing an expression that said she could not be bothered to argue, and looked at the Lich Old Man. "What are the questions you want calculated?"

"Whew—" The Lich Old Man let out a soft breath, reached into his robe, and pulled out a crumpled sheet of papyrus covered in messy handwriting. "There. They're all written on it. Three in total."

Pandora glanced at it and called out, "Little Bell!"

"Woof!" A bark rang out as a yellow blur darted out from beneath the desk. It was the Lich Old Man's Golden Retriever.

After rushing out, the Golden Retriever looked at Pandora ingratiatingly, wagging its tail and sticking out its tongue as it waited for her command.

Pandora pointed at the papyrus in the Lich Old Man's hand. "Bring that to me, Little Bell."

"Woof woof!"

The Golden Retriever barked twice in reply, then skipped over to the Lich Old Man. It took the papyrus from his hand, held it securely in its mouth, and skipped back to the desk.

After handing the papyrus to Pandora, she casually patted its head. The Golden Retriever spun excitedly in place several times, its tail wagging like a car windshield wiper in a rainstorm while it snuffled through its nose.

Pandora began reading the papyrus. The Lich Old Man watched the wildly excited Golden Retriever, and his expression gradually turned strange. After a while, he spoke to Pandora. "Hey, little girl, why do you... call my dog Little Bell? As I recall, he doesn't have that name."

"Swish!"

Pandora lowered the papyrus she was reading and glanced at the Lich Old Man. "Is there a problem? Little Bell isn't your dog right now.
