Background

Di Jun and his younger brother, East Emperor Taiyi, were born on the Sun Star, which formed from Pangu's left eye. Both carry the Three-legged Golden Crow bloodline and were blessed with immense fortune; Di Jun's companion treasure is the River Diagram and Luo Script. 65 67

After leaving their long seclusion on the Sun Star, the brothers witnessed the Demon Race's oppression by the Witch Clan. Di Jun resolved to unite the scattered demons, promising to end their internal strife and raise the race to supremacy in the Primordial Wilderness. His inherent Emperor's Destiny and commanding presence establish him as the Demon Race's true leader, even though Taiyi is stronger in direct combat. 67 68

He is notably more restrained than Taiyi in volatile situations. During the conflict over a treasure, he stops Taiyi from escalating Zhurong's attack and proposes that the strongest contestant should claim the prize. 93

Despite his imperial severity, Di Jun can be considerate toward his subjects. Xihe persuades him to show kindness to the impoverished Wu Yue and her son Canyang; afterward, he invites Canyang to visit the garden and becomes concerned with fostering the child's potential. 209 210 217

When Qing Tian reveals the Three-legged Crow's prophecy that Di Jun's ten sons can change the Great Wilderness's fate, Di Jun chooses to send them to become her disciples despite learning that only one may remain. 278

War, Loss, and Sacrifice

After his sons injure Xing Tian, Di Jun accepts responsibility, apologizes to Di Jiang, and offers the Demon Court's precious Lingzhi Grass for Xing Tian's treatment. 324 325

Following the deaths of his children, Di Jun seeks revenge against Hou Yi and Chang'e, but yields when Qing Tian offers a means to revive them. Nine sons return alive, though their spiritual roots and cultivation are ruined. 342 343

As the Demon Court deteriorates during the wider war, Canyang and Lady Commander die, the Star Array of the Heavens is broken, and Di Jun sacrifices his soul to the Demon Spirit in an attempt to reverse the Demon Court's decline. 358 365 366

Later Heavenly Court Crisis

Di Jun survives a later collapse, but Qing Tian secretly strikes him with lightning and restores his strength. Di Jun responds by ordering a statue and altered flag in Qing Tian's honor, then decisively executes alleged traitors within the Heavenly Court. 373

Fearing the unknown changes inflicted upon him, Di Jun enters absolute seclusion and warns Taiyi that no one gives power freely. He subsequently abolishes his former cultivation techniques after considering Qing Tian's advice, choosing to begin anew rather than remain bound to his previous path. 380 383
