In an age when communication tools were still limited, hiring someone was a bit of a hassle. It wasn't like later, when he could post in a university substitute-teaching group, start a private chat, and arrange most kinds of student work.
He needed to make a notice and pin it to the Common Room's Notice Board. Anyone interested could contact the employer through the agreed method, then work out a deal after discussing the details.
Fortunately, that wasn't difficult. He could put up the notice in the Ravenclaw Common Room himself, and a quick request to classmates took care of the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor common rooms. One Sickle was enough for that little favor.
"Forget Slytherin. Even if someone there wanted to come at this price, their housemates would give them so much grief they'd back out..."
After confirming that the notices were up, Andrew headed for the Library, grumbling to himself. Using Transfiguration to imitate the Bubble-Head Charm had been a spur-of-the-moment idea, but it was entirely feasible in theory. To improve his chances, he needed to prepare more thoroughly on a few theoretical details.
"Still not quite right..."
Two days later, on Saturday, Andrew got up early and went to the Empty Classroom on the second floor that he'd specified. He practiced Transfiguration while waiting for the older student who would help him.
For the past two days, he'd been trying to transfigure roses from different materials. But the limits of his magic kept the flowers from looking realistic, and some materials wouldn't even take the basic shape.
Knock, knock, knock.
The sound startled Andrew out of his study of the flower in his hand. Since when are students this polite?
He hurried over to open the door. This wasn't a job interview or a Club recruitment
