Background / History
Andrew is an adult transmigrated into the body of an eleven-year-old boy who died after a reckless bet. During his first three months in an orphanage, he learns the original body’s memories, secures a private room and better treatment, and builds an income by writing simple biographies under a pen name. He donates seventy percent of his manuscript fees to the orphanage. 2
Before learning he is a wizard, Andrew privately develops a mental ability he calls telekinesis. His early experiments include levitating objects, passing a wooden stick through stone, repairing cracks, accelerating his own hair growth, and attempting—unsuccessfully—to heal an injured mouse. He keeps the ability secret and treats its development as a long-term priority. 2
Minerva McGonagall’s letter introduces him to Hogwarts and leads Andrew to recognize that his “telekinesis” is connected to magic. At Ollivanders, he demonstrates unusual control by drawing a wand from its box and through its wooden casing before selecting it. 4 7
At Hogwarts, Andrew continues writing for magical magazines to fund experiments and research. His submissions to Magical Legends are heavily edited into a popular serial centered on Dumbledore, creating a commercially successful work whose public direction is only partly under Andrew’s control. 9 10
Personality
Andrew is analytical, resourceful, and intensely self-directed. He approaches magic through experimentation, documentation, and practical problem-solving rather than unquestioning acceptance of established methods. His preference for Transfiguration stems from seeing magic as a creative force capable of changing both objects and society. 26 254 357
He is also secretive and cautious about information. Andrew protects his identity as a writer, conceals his private research, and is capable of deception when he believes it necessary. His willingness to use Legilimency, disguises, and coercive magic can make him morally unsettling despite his frequent concern for safety and responsibility. 9 390 635
Academic achievement and project work often isolate him from ordinary student life. Dumbledore and McGonagall specifically worry that his extreme self-discipline and lack of social interaction could leave him emotionally vulnerable, particularly in magic tied to emotion. Andrew gradually makes more effort to help and work with peers such as Eve, Luna, Hal, and the wider Triwizard student body. 366 367 552
Abilities & Skills
Telekinesis
Andrew’s earliest named power is a mental ability that predates his formal magical education.
- Can levitate and manipulate objects weighing up to approximately thirty pounds. 2
- Can sustain maximum-weight manipulation for around half an hour before fatigue sharply reduces his control. 2
- Has used it to move objects through solid material, with a wooden stick passing through stone as his best recorded result. 2
- Can repair obvious cracks, though repaired objects remain imperfect; a mended cup still leaked. 2
- Requires full concentration and cannot initially multitask while maintaining the ability. 2
- Recovers from overuse quickly, often after about an hour of sleep. 2
Transfiguration
Transfiguration is Andrew’s primary discipline and the foundation of most of his combat, research, and engineering work.
- Performs complex transformations beyond his age group and develops unusually fine control over inanimate targets. 69 310
- Uses Transfiguration offensively by altering terrain, armor, weapons, traps, and enemy-created constructs. 273 472
- Can create practical protective equipment, including fireproof gloves and a glass breathing apparatus. 98
- Applies Transfiguration to papers, printing plates, ink, disguise work, and the concealment of magical traces. 445
- Cannot create living creatures despite his high proficiency. 138
- Views Transfiguration as a discipline of creation and change rather than mere object alteration. 254 357
Human Transfiguration
Under McGonagall’s guidance, Andrew advances from controlled deformation exercises to full-body self-transfiguration.
- Learned the theory and risks of Human Transfiguration, including the danger of affecting the brain or soul. 318 320
- Uses cursed wart powder and Boggarts as supervised training tools for resisting, understanding, and reversing bodily transformations. 320 321
- Can transform individual body parts into primate equivalents, including a baboon arm with significantly increased strength. 368
- Successfully completes a full-body transformation. 378
- Is warned not to use Human Transfiguration on other students without permission or attempt to alter its underlying rules recklessly. 368
- Recognizes that forceful Transfiguration may cause effects comparable to permanent soul damage. 403
Spell Analysis and Construction
Andrew studies spells as systems shaped by language, intent, wand movement, and magical power.
- Improved the Shield Charm into a form considered worthy of broader promotion. 290
- Relearns basic spells to analyze their incantations and underlying structure, beginning with the Levitation Charm. 422
- Demonstrates that conventional incantations and gestures can be bypassed through will, intent, and a suitable mental catalyst. 620
- Creates multiple experimental spells by modifying incantations and wand motions. 621
- Develops a personal casting style in which spells become unusually flexible and gain Transfiguration-like properties. 622
- Remains aware that his foundations in ordinary Charms require continued work. 290 624
Legilimency
Andrew uses Legilimency for perception, emotional projection, intimidation, and information-gathering.
- Initially struggles to find willing subjects for practice because memories are deeply private and misuse would risk Azkaban. 300
- Uses emotional projection to influence a Boggart’s form during Human Transfiguration training. 319
- Intimidates onlookers through an icy Legilimency-enhanced gaze. 390
- Uses Legilimency to communicate his needs to the Room of Requirement while retrieving the lost Diadem. 434
- Employs Legilimency alongside Truth Serum and the Imperius Curse during his covert Gringotts infiltration. 635
Alchemy
Andrew studies Alchemy under Nicolas “Nick” Flamel, also addressed as Mr. LeMei.
- Receives an introductory Alchemy textbook from Flamel and gains a systematic understanding of the field’s origins in Transfiguration. 245
- Finds the subject substantially more difficult than Transfiguration, unable to fully understand a significant portion of the introductory material. 245
- Studies Flamel’s self-sustaining miniature biosphere and witnesses iron transformed into gold. 528
- Learns that the Philosopher’s Stone is neither harmless nor simply a technical achievement; its production involves belief, worship, and severe economic risks. 587 590
- Chooses not to pursue the Stone immediately, judging himself too young and prioritizing ongoing research instead. 590
