Thud... thud...

Something was knocking against the wall. Ron woke groggily to the wretched sound.

"What's that noi—"

He mumbled, then realized it was coming from inside their dormitory. He reached for his wand. "Lumos."

Holding out his lit wand, Ron looked toward the source of the sound—Harry's bed.

"Harry? What are you doing?"

He got no answer, so he climbed out of bed and looked over at Harry. To his shock, Harry was curled up in agony, slamming his forehead against the wall with all his strength. There was already blood.

"Harry?"

Ron reached out to grab him, but Harry flung his hand away.

"Quick, wake up! Harry's been hit by a jinx!"

Ron hurried to rouse the others in the dormitory. All the while, Harry kept smashing his forehead against the wall in obvious pain.

"Hold him still with magic! Ron, Dean, you two do it!"

Neville thought for a moment and made the call.

Thanks to Harry, the Gryffindor first years had stayed out of trouble lately and spent their free time practicing spells for fights. Two of the boys in the dormitory had become quite good at them.

As for Neville, he was better with his fists.

And Seamus went without saying. In school fights, his current role was to blow himself up along with his opponent.

"Use the Leg-Locker Curse on his legs first. We'll wrap him in a sheet and carry him to the Hospital Wing. One of us needs to get a professor."

Their usual tactical discussions paid off now that Harry needed help. They soon bundled him in a sheet and, using Levitation Charms they had all grown remarkably practiced at, carried him toward the Common Room entrance.

Harry still tried to bang his head now and then, but the sheet held
