Do I Really Have to Be This Dumb?

"How was it? Did you sense anything?"

"Not yet!"

"Then keep meditating. I'll check nearby and see if I can find Steve."

Yun Feiyang flew straight out the window, leaving Little White behind to keep watch.

It might have been a cub, but it still had to work. It couldn't just eat for free.

After meditating for a while longer, Mira stopped in frustration.

"What Magic Microparticles? That guy said it was easy. Was he lying to me?"

"Little White, is learning Magic really that easy?"

Little White tilted its head, then nodded.

For Magic Beasts—especially those with superior bloodlines—learning Magic really was easy. They did not have as many complicated thoughts as humans and were closer to nature.

Some were even born knowing it, as if it had been engraved into their bloodline. Little White was one such example.

"Even you think so? Is it really because I'm too dumb?"

Mira absolutely refused to admit that!

"Little White, did you find anything?"

Little White shook its head.

"Then keep watching."

"I refuse to believe it!"

Mira dug in her heels and continued meditating, determined not to let someone laugh at her later.

Yun Feiyang did not return until noon, bringing two lunch boxes with him.

"How was it? Anything happen?"

Little White shook its head.

"You worked hard. Take a break and eat."

After giving one lunch box to Little White, Yun Feiyang asked Mira, "What about you? Did you learn Magic yet?"

"Well... um..."

Mira hemmed and hawed, too embarrassed to say it aloud.

"You still haven't learned it?"

"Ahem... I haven't even sensed the Magic Microparticles!"

"Seriously? You spent the whole morning just sitting here? Even pigs learn faster than you!"

Of course. I knew this bastard would laugh at me!

Was my talent really that bad? Was I not suited to becoming a mage?

"How could learning Magic be that fast? You must be messing with me!"

"The few seconds I mentioned were for learning Magic, not for failing to even sense Magic Microparticles!"

Mira was stunned. She had been utterly crushed!

Am I really that dumb?

"If you don't believe me, ask the Guild Master when we get back. He was the one who taught me!"

"Now eat first!"

Mira snatched the lunch box, deciding to turn her grief and indignation into appetite.

"This is so lavish! Where did you get it?"

"I went around to the woods outside town, caught two wild animals, and took them back for Lisanna to cook. We already ate."

"So you didn't find any trace of Steve either?"

"Nope!"

"You're really useless. You kept bragging about how amazing you were, too!"

"Hey! For a warlock, hiding is the easiest thing in the world. Isn't it normal that I couldn't find him?"

"Incompetent people always make excuses for themselves! Hmph!"

This felt great. She finally had the chance to strike back!

"Can't be bothered with you."

After Mira finished eating, Yun Feiyang sat down on the bed as well.

"What are you doing?"

"Stop making a fuss. I haven't meditated today yet."

Ignoring Mira's wary expression, he closed his eyes and sat in meditation.

Mira curled her lips, adjusted her posture, and continued working hard to lure over the Magic Microparticles.

As Yun Feiyang meditated, all the Magic Microparticles nearby surged over, filling the entire room.

Little White closed its eyes in delight. This was exactly the feeling it wanted.

Little White was not the only one benefiting. Mira enjoyed the same treatment.

Time slowly passed.

"Has that much time already passed?"

"Still no success?"

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

"Who is it?"

"Probably Lisanna. She said she'd bring us dinner."

Yun Feiyang walked over and opened the door. Sure enough, Lisanna and Elfman were outside.

"Feiyang Nii-chan, time to eat!"

Four people and one wolf sat together for dinner.

Mira said proudly, "Elfman, Lisanna, your big sister is about to learn Magic!"

"Big Sister is amazing!"

The worshipful looks in her younger siblings' eyes made Mira feel very pleased with herself.

Yun Feiyang remained expressionless. "Hehe."

To enjoy her younger siblings' admiration, Mira decided to continue working hard after dinner and learn Magic as soon as possible.

"Feiyang Nii-chan, what's the Guild like?"

Lisanna leaned against the windowsill beside Yun Feiyang, both nervous and expectant about their future lives.

"The Guild? I don't know about Other Guilds, but ours is rather special. It's lively—very lively—but they're all kind people, like family."

"Are they as easy to get along with as Feiyang Nii-chan?"

"More or less."

"That's wonderful! Feiyang Nii-chan kidnapped us, so you'll take responsibility for us in the future, right?"

Yun Feiyang's mouth twitched. Could the word "kidnapped" be used like that?

"For a lifetime, okay? I've already started thinking of you as my brother-in-law. It's fine for a sister-in-law to depend on her brother-in-law, right?"

"What brother-in-law? You're the ones saying that yourselves. Did I ever agree?"

"What? You want not only the older sister, but the younger sister too? You're so bad, not even sparing your sister-in-law!"

Yun Feiyang nearly spat out blood and almost fell out the window!

"Lisanna, are you really a child?"

Even seasoned drivers weren't as skilled as you!

Lisanna put away her mischievous expression and said warmly, "Even though we've only known Feiyang Nii-chan for one day, you're very dependable. You made us feel like we could rely on someone again."

Yun Feiyang rubbed her white hair. "You can think of it that way!"

She had only been six when her parents died. Now she was more capable than most adults. Who knew how much she had suffered over the past five years?

Just as Mira was about to announce the good news, a crowd suddenly poured out of the Church, every one of them looking panicked!

"Demon! The Demon is killing people!"

Yun Feiyang's expression changed, and he hurriedly flew down!

"You go home first!"
