Advanced Magic was a higher tier than Common Magic, with greater power and more uses.

Forbidden Magic was Magic forbidden from use. It was immensely powerful and wide-ranging, capable of destroying an entire city when cast. Examples included Laxus's Thunder Palace and Yun Feiyang's God Slayer Secret Art.

Super Magic referred to supreme Magic that surpassed ordinary spells. It was even more powerful than Forbidden Magic and possessed the ability to alter rules.

Of Fairy Tail's three great spells, only Fairy Law had been passed down within the Guild. Mavis had not left behind the other two.
