From everything that had happened so far, Hector had long since realized that Su Xiao and the others opposing him were anything but ordinary.

If he pushed them into a desperate last stand, there was no telling what they might do.

Even so, as the patriarch of the Salamanca Group, Hector would never allow himself to show any weakness.

"Beg for mercy? Of course not. For one thing, I wanted to confirm what you looked like first. Mr. Gonzalez gave me your photo, but getting the wrong person would be a real headache."

Hector snorted. "Even now, you still think you can kill me?"

"Yes."

Hector sneered.

"What a joke. Still, ignorant as you are, I suppose your courage deserves some credit. I know there are plenty of stories about me out there, but those are all unfounded rumors."

"I'm actually a very reasonable man. There was never any personal grudge between us. We're simply on different sides. You took Gonzalez's money to get his son out, and that put you at odds with me. There's no irreconcilable conflict between us."

Once Hector finished, Su Xiao replied calmly.

"People say you're a cruel man, Mr. Hector, that you feed people to lions at the slightest provocation. Yet here you are, talking to me at such length. It seems those rumors really can't be trusted. But from what you're saying, do you think there's still room for us to reconcile?"

"Why not? As I just said, we're simply on different sides. Do one thing for me, and not only will I let you leave Tijuana alive, I'll pay you too. Whatever Gonzalez offered you, I'll double it."

"Sounds good. So what's the price?"

Hector gave a smile that never reached his eyes.

"Simple. Bring me Gonzalez and his son, preferably alive.
