Lin Bai led the Reaching Heaven Sword Sect disciples in defending the Spirit Awakening Grass, using demon blood and a hidden spirit vein to grow stronger. After rescuing Jing Shu from Bai Feng, Lin Bai left the White Snake clan facing war with the Sky Eagle Demon Clan and Bai Zhan's suspicions.

• Lin Bai learned that he needed Yang God Realm cultivation to escape the Han Hai Demon Kingdom, then volunteered with Jing Shu, Zhuo Lian, and the Reaching Heaven Sword Sect disciples to guard Immortal Cave Mountain.
• Lin Bai organized the disciples to defend the mountain, hunted demon beasts for their blood, and uncovered a Creation Spirit Vein that helped the group cultivate.
• As the Spirit Awakening Grass neared maturity, Lin Bai fought increasingly powerful demon beasts and learned from Huang Lang that Sky Cloud Mountain planned to seize the grass.
• Huang Long and Huang Hu attacked Immortal Cave Mountain, but Lin Bai emerged from the cave, killed them, and cleared the surrounding mountain range of enemy warriors.

After Bai Ling identified Lin Bai as Bai Feng’s killer, Bai Huang sent Lin Bai to the Reincarnation Field, where he survived its deadly arena and pursued the meaning of Slaughter Intent. Lin Bai reached 999 victories and entered the thousandth battle against the Twelve Reincarnation Envoys, with freedom at stake.

• Bai Ling brought Lin Bai before Bai Huang and Bai Hou, but Bai Huang doubted Linggan Zhenjun’s accusation, sent Lin Bai to the Reincarnation Field, and ordered Bai Ling to kill Linggan Zhenjun.
• Xing Hai took Lin Bai to the Reincarnation Field, where Lin Bai learned that Zhao Qing had died and Xiang Yun was the only other surviving disciple from their group.
• Lin Bai defeated Magma Demon in his first arena fight and later killed Man-Tearing Lion with Xiang Yun’s Ten-Step Kill to avenge Xiang Yun.
• Lin Bai studied the sword marks hidden in his room’s walls, endured their killing voice, and learned that Xiang Yun had died fighting Man-Tearing Lion.
• Lin Bai killed Red Mane and several other opponents, then fought ten battles in a day and became known as the Sword Demon.
• After reaching 351 victories, Lin Bai saw the sword marks stir into a storm and glimpsed the beginnings of Slaughter Intent.

Lin Bai defeated the Twelve Reincarnation Envoys, then fought his way out of the Han Hai Demon Kingdom with Jiang Jing and the Reaching Heaven Sword Sect disciples. Back at the sect, he learned the Zhu Family had helped enslave them and vowed to avenge the dead as the survivors returned to sect life.

• Lin Bai defeated the Twelve Reincarnation Envoys and awakened his Slaughter Intent in his battle with Xing Long, earning his freedom from the Reincarnation Field.
• At the Demon Emperor’s banquet, Lin Bai rejected the demon clans’ offers and followed Jiang Jing’s plan to escape the imperial capital with the human disciples.
• When Wan Peng, Yin Shan, and Bai Ling blocked their flight, Lin Bai fought them while Jiang Jing helped the disciples escape, then used a talisman to save Lin Bai at the cost of his own life.
• Lin Bai carried Jiang Jing’s body to Yuanqing Mountain, where he and the surviving disciples used the teleportation array to return to human territory.
• Lin Bai led the survivors back to the Reaching Heaven Sword Sect and told Gui Jing that Zhu Lie and the Zhu Family had conspired to capture and sell the disciples.
• Lin Bai and the survivors swore to avenge their fallen companions, then went to Treasure Seeking Tower to exchange demon beast corpses for Contribution Points.

Lin Bai mastered Azure Wood Divine Lightning, defeated Zhu Lei, and was formally recognized as a Sword Paragon. He then led the Immortal Cave Mountain sword cultivators toward the Zhu Family’s Immaculate Divine Iron Mine, where he began extracting its ore.

• Zhang Ji awarded Lin Bai enough Contribution Points to become a Purple Robe Disciple, and Lin Bai exchanged a billion points for the Azure Wood Divine Lightning Art.
• After Zhu Lie learned Lin Bai had returned, he led Zhu Family forces to Deathmatch Valley, where the Immortal Cave Mountain sword cultivators fought his disciples.
• Zhu Lei arrived and challenged Lin Bai, but Lin Bai killed him with a lightning-infused Hundred-Step Kill while Nie Xiong killed Zhu Lie.
• The Sword Reverent spared the surviving Zhu Family martial artists, and Gui Jing told Lin Bai that Zhu Lei’s death made him a candidate to become a Sword Paragon.
• Lin Bai completed the Sword Paragon ceremony and received the first volume of the Reaching Heaven Sword Art.
• Lin Bai rejected offers of help and set out with Nie Xiong and the seventy-two sword cultivators to destroy the Zhu Family and Ten Thousand Demons Valley.
• Lin Bai led the group to East Shuang City, where they defeated Zhu Family forces and found the family’s underground Immaculate Divine Iron Mine.
• Lin Bai learned the mine might hold more than thirty thousand pounds of ore and began cutting pieces from its wall with the Demon Sword.
