As rivalry with the Third Prince intensified, Lin Bai investigated the princes’ deaths and received Ren Xin’s reforged treasures.

• Lin Bai entered the Grand Yi Secret Realm, found the peak with the densest Dao Resonance, and broke through to the Great Purity Dao Fruit Realm after five months, and ten other disciples also succeeded.
• Lin Bai celebrated with his fellow disciples, then learned that the Third Prince had placed Prince Chen in danger by accusing the Twelfth Prince’s surviving child of rebellion.
• Lin Bai agreed to help Prince Chen and traveled to the Imperial Capital with Qiao Mo, Qin Yao, Fang Yuanshu, Ye Guyu, and Tianshui Sect elders.

Lin Bai investigated the princes’ deaths and the Posthumous Child while serving Prince Chen, uncovering the God-Devil Calamity Poison as a possible cause of the princes’ deaths. He then attended Chen Yule’s banquet, where a Python Dragon Drum contest turned a gathering of rival holy sons into a prolonged drinking game.

• Ren Xin gave Lin Bai the Heaven Measuring Ruler and disclosed that he had found traces of God-Devil Calamity poison near the First Prince’s chambers, but an assassin struck him with poisoned needles before he could reveal more.
• Lin Bai pursued the assassin, who escaped with a Universe Shift Talisman, then concealed Ren Xin’s death and began investigating the princes’ deaths and the Posthumous Child.
• Lin Bai reasoned that the Third Prince had hidden the Posthumous Child among the imperial clan or powerful families and sects, and Prince Chen gave him a Zhao Xing Office Sword-Bearer Envoy token to investigate.

The dispute escalated into a battle, and Lin Bai and his allies fought against Li Mo and the Holy Sons backing him.
