Ch. 202A New Beginning (Part 1)

Killua trained with his great-grandfather and secretly tried to leave the Zoldyck estate, while Jing Yang and his companions raced across the sea toward the Dark Continent. Beyond and Pariston discussed Netero as the crippled Ant King survived and awakened Nen, leaving Pariston with a scheme involving the King and the Chairman.

  • Killua was blasted from the palace during training, learned his father and eldest brother would be away, and decided to escape.
  • Jing Yang celebrated an increase in his Nen after digesting Death Qi, then raced Kurapika and Kite across the sea with Shizuku on a raft pushed by sea beasts.
  • Killua used his assassin skills to slip out of the family villa, but panicked when he opened the Trial Gate and found Pariston outside.
  • Beyond and Pariston watched two injured Ant guards die after their Aura Nodes opened, while the Ant King retained Nen through its survival instincts.
  • Beyond refused to fight Netero to the death, and Pariston suggested the Ant King could become Netero's challenger.

Ch. 203A New Beginning (Part Two)

Jing Yang and his companions survived a storm at sea, and a signal from Wu Er led him to a blond girl on Ghost Island. Elsewhere, Ging avoided Gon, Illumi confronted Killua, and Chrollo continued searching for the True Martial King’s treasure.

  • Ging spotted eight-year-old Gon fishing and quietly fled rather than face his son.
  • Illumi returned to the Zoldyck estate, opened the sixth Trial Gate, and frightened Killua by accusing him of planning to run away.
  • Feitan, Shalnark, and Phinks discussed the deaths of Lieh Ying and Bop and considered the unknown killer’s potential as a Troupe member.
  • Jing Yang, Shizuku, Kite, and Kurapika escaped a violent sea storm when Shizuku used Blobfish to clear a passage through the waves.
  • Jing Yang noticed Wu Er’s Star Mark signal, remembered he had not registered for the Hunter Exam, and saw a blond girl pinning a jewelry dealer at Elf Amusement Park.
  • Chrollo failed to activate a Divine Script formation while searching for the True Martial King’s treasure, and Machi grew tired of the search.

Ch. 204Revived with a Sliver of Health

Jing Yang and his companions washed ashore after days adrift, but learned they had missed the Hunter Exam registration deadline. As they headed toward town, Jing Yang used Death Qi to improve his Nen categories and remotely controlled Wu Er on Ghost Island, hoping to approach Biscuit.

  • Xiao Nian jumped from a sea cliff and was swallowed by a giant sea monster, but Jing Yang, Shizuku, Kurapika, and Kite rescued him and brought him ashore.
  • The purple-haired girl told Jing Yang it was January 1, 1996, and Kite confirmed that Hunter Exam registration had closed the previous day.
  • Jing Yang and his companions learned they were in the Ancient Gukang Jade Country and decided to travel toward Hunter Association headquarters before the next exam registration period.
  • Jing Yang distributed ten Death Qi points among his Nen categories, raising their limits and leaving one point to refine into more Nen.
  • Jing Yang controlled Wu Er on Ghost Island and recalled that Biscuit had vanished after noticing him approach her.

Ch. 205Be a Little Dumber

After missing the Hunter Exam registration, Jing Yang and his companions shared a meal in town, where Kite advised an aspiring Hunter to build basic combat ability. Jing Yang parted ways with Kite and Kurapika, then planned to visit Death God's Eye and other dangerous sites in search of Death Qi with Shizuku.

  • Jing Yang discovered that Hunter Exam registration had closed, and his group ate at a restaurant while a local boy asked about becoming a Hunter.
  • Kite advised the boy to develop basic combat ability and told Jing Yang that Ging had guided him before and after the Hunter Exam.
  • Jing Yang learned about Death God's Eye, a 209-meter abyssal whirlpool, and decided to visit it rather than awaken Nen for the boy.
  • Shizuku and Kurapika discussed why awakening Nen could expose ordinary people to terrifying dangers.
  • Kurapika left to search for his people's eyes and promised to take the Hunter Exam later in the year.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku set off to shop, visit Death God's Eye and the World Tree, and look for a hospital or slaughterhouse.

Ch. 206A Small Goal: Medical Ninjutsu?

Jing Yang and Shizuku visited the Deep Abyss Whirlpool, where he gained two points of Death Qi and raised his Enhancer limit to 71.2%. After testing the Star Mark’s healing against a fresh wound, Jing Yang began experimenting with Nen as a form of medical ninjutsu.

  • Jing Yang and Shizuku spent two days exploring the coastal city, and Jing Yang absorbed the last point of Death Qi he had been saving, strengthening his Aura.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku boarded a sightseeing ferry to the Deep Abyss Whirlpool and watched six challengers leap into its waters.
  • While Shizuku practiced Gungi on Crescent Island, two challengers died in the whirlpool and their Death Qi flowed into Jing Yang.
  • Jing Yang used the two points of Death Qi to raise his Enhancer limit from 69.2% to 71.2%.
  • Jing Yang compared the Star Mark’s rapid healing with his injury after he removed the mark, then gathered Nen in his palm and tried to heal the wound himself.

Ch. 207Aunt Bisky, Hello

Jing Yang tested a healing Nen Ability after rescuing a man from Death God's Eye, then reunited with Biscuit through Jing Wu Er, the tiger body he inhabited. Biscuit identified him as an unknown Manipulator, and Jing Wu Er began writing to explain who he was.

  • Jing Yang failed to learn the Palm Sage Technique and rescued a drowning man from Death God's Eye, injuring him while dragging him ashore.
  • Jing Yang used Aura to test his developing healing Nen Ability on the rescued man and saw a small improvement.
  • Jing Yang met Shizuku and Rock Sparrow before the story shifted to Shiro watching Wu Er hunt in the forest.
  • Jing Wu Er spotted Biscuit in a tree, and she explained that she had watched him for ten days and suspected a Manipulator was controlling the tiger.
  • Biscuit told Jing Wu Er to write, and he scratched, “Aunt Bisky, it's me, Jing Yang,” into the ground.

Ch. 208The Princess Will Consider It as She Sees Fit

Jing Yang expanded the limits of his Nen categories with Death Qi and tested his healing ability, then used the Star Mark to possess the Fanged Moon Tiger and meet Biscuit. After persuading her to consider helping him, he admitted that he wanted guidance from an accomplished Nen teacher.

  • Jing Yang spent ten wisps of Death Qi to raise his Enhancer limit and improve several other Nen category limits.
  • Jing Yang tested a healing ability by closing a small wound, but found it much slower than the Star Mark's healing.
  • Jing Yang projected his consciousness into the Fanged Moon Tiger and explained to Biscuit that he was Jing Yang, not Zenyu.
  • Jing Yang offered to help Biscuit obtain the Blue Planet and asked her to help the Fanged Moon Tiger travel around the world.
  • Biscuit agreed to consider Jing Yang's request because he was friends with Wing, and Jing Yang revealed that he wanted a renowned Nen master to guide him.

Ch. 209Manipulator or Specialist?

Jing Yang secured a video call with Biscuit and proposed trading a chance to obtain Blue Planet for her guidance in Nen training. Biscuit questioned his plan to cure a game-console owner’s seriously ill relative, leaving Jing Yang wondering whether he was a Manipulator or a Specialist as she suggested testing his Nen type.

  • Biscuit asked how Jing Yang was certain he could help her obtain Blue Planet, and he said he knew someone who had a Greed Island game console.
  • Jing Yang instructed Wu Er to be affectionate toward Biscuit, then left the rooftop of a hospital with Shizuku after security guards arrived.
  • Jing Yang and Biscuit held a video call, where she questioned his sudden growth and then discussed their shared goals with him.
  • Jing Yang explained that he planned to attract the console owner by offering to treat a severely ill relative, but Biscuit doubted a Manipulator could develop a healing ability powerful enough.
  • Jing Yang said he might not be entirely a Manipulator, and Biscuit suggested he test his Nen type with a cup of water and a leaf.

Ch. 210He Who Fishes Shall Be Fished

Jing Yang confirmed through repeated Water Divination that he was a Manipulator, even though his Death Aura panel showed 100% Specialist affinity. After discussing Nen types and Shizuku’s training with Biscuit, he decided they should win Biscuit over as a teacher and began searching nearby hospitals for vegetative patients.

  • Jing Yang repeated Water Divination and confirmed that the leaf moved, identifying him as a Manipulator.
  • Biscuit explained that each person had one innate Nen type, though unusual experiences or bloodlines could cause a shift to Specialist.
  • Jing Yang reasoned that his Death Aura panel and increased Nen affinities might result from manipulating himself through Upper Heaven Lower Hell.
  • Shizuku said her Transmuted Chainsaw complemented Blobfish, and Jing Yang worried that he had led her away from training her natural Conjuration type.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku agreed to win Biscuit over as a teacher, and Jing Yang used Shizuku’s Hunter License to search for nearby vegetative patients.

Ch. 211Divine Doctor Jing's Conscience Preservation Principle

Jing Yang tested whether his Star Mark could heal vegetative patients and confirmed that it could by restoring a boy’s consciousness. After healing many patients in the hospital, he and Shizuku planned to wait for the news and continue toward YC City to pursue Battra.

  • Jing Yang used his Hunter License to investigate Battra’s hidden medical payments and learned that Battra’s true-love girl was in a vegetative state.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku visited nearby hospitals at night, where Jing Yang placed a Star Mark on a vegetative boy and possessed him long enough to make him open his eyes.
  • The boy remained conscious after Jing Yang removed the Star Mark, and his mother realized that the masked strangers had healed him.
  • Patients throughout the hospital recovered from serious conditions, drawing the attention of doctors, nurses, and families.
  • Jing Yang explained how the Star Mark’s healing had worked and agreed with Shizuku that his actions might reflect a desire to ease his conscience.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku left for the inn, planning to read the news the next day before continuing to YC City.

Ch. 212Tenseiga

Jing Yang and Shizuku used their healing abilities to save critically ill patients, attracting reporters and public attention. After a reporter directed them to another patient, they found a green skull-like Nen parasite and Jing Yang tried to exorcise it with his Nen-Drinking Sword.

  • Jing Yang used his Aura-based Palm Sage Technique to restore a critically ill patient, then escaped the hospital with Shizuku as a crowd surged toward them.
  • Jing Yang explained to Shizuku that his healing technique was a backup for people who could not receive a Star Mark, and suggested it might also be adapted for combat.
  • A reporter found Jing Yang and Shizuku on the hospital rooftop and told them about a patient they were needed to save, so they headed to the specified hospital.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku found a green skull-like Nen presence feeding on the Aura of a nearly skeletal patient, whom their healing abilities could not treat.
  • Jing Yang drew his Nen-Drinking Sword and slashed toward the patient, hoping the sword could exorcise the Nen parasite.

Ch. 213Aura Pool

Jing Yang used the Nen-Drinking Sword to draw aura from a patient’s parasitic green skull Nen, and the man appeared to recover. Jing Yang and Shizuku questioned whether the Nen had truly been exorcised, then met the reporter who had followed them.

  • Jing Yang repeatedly swung the Nen-Drinking Sword through the patient’s green skull Nen, storing aura in the sword as its Divine Script runes lit up.
  • Shizuku used Gyo and saw no trace of the skull Nen, and the patient coughed and opened his eyes as Jing Yang and Shizuku left the ward.
  • Jing Yang estimated that the sword could store more than 20,000 aura but questioned whether it had completely removed the foreign Nen.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku noticed the reporter following them, hid the sword, and led her to a coffee shop.
  • The reporter began an interview, joked about their masks, and asked what was written on them.

Ch. 214The Magician Happened to Pass By

Jing Yang and Shizuku were interviewed about their healing work, then caught Chrollo Bubuki spying on them and learned he had accidentally developed a Nen beast without understanding Nen abilities. After confirming an exorcism had worked at the hospital, they encountered Hisoka amid an explosion, and he assessed Jing Yang as a potentially powerful opponent.

  • Jing Yang explained that he and Shizuku chose whom to save, while a reporter questioned them about their healing record and their experience treating vegetative patients.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku noticed a knit-capped Nen user following them, and Jing Yang used En to expose the man's monkey-like Aura duplicate.
  • Jing Yang discovered the follower was Chrollo Bubuki, a self-taught Transmuter who had created a weak monkey Nen beast, and agreed to visit his paralyzed father.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku checked the hospital patient they had exorcised and confirmed the residual Nen had not returned.
  • Hisoka approached Jing Yang in the hospital corridor as an explosion caused the crowd to panic, then tossed a nurse's cap at him and judged his strength to be around seventy points or higher.

Ch. 215Natural Counter

Jing Yang and Shizuku encountered Hisoka at the hospital, where a brief clash ended with Hisoka leaving after testing their abilities. Jing Yang healed Chrollo’s father and agreed to teach Chrollo Nen; the next morning, Jing Yang felt a Star Mark’s sensation.

  • Hisoka attacked Jing Yang and Shizuku with his gum-like Aura, but they cut it free and prepared to fight before Hisoka chose to leave a calling card and depart.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku took the terrified Chrollo home, where Chrollo asked whether Nen users were all monsters.
  • Jing Yang treated Chrollo’s father by breaking his deformed spine and healing it with Nine Yang True Aura, spending 3,000 Aura to restore him.
  • Chrollo thanked Jing Yang and asked him to teach more Nen; Jing Yang agreed.
  • The next morning, Jing Yang read a newspaper interview with the two miracle doctors, and two hours later he felt a Star Mark’s sensation.

Ch. 216Distance

Jing Yang saved Chrollo from a fatal attack by Hisoka and began training him in Nen alongside Shizuku. After four days of training, Jing Yang sensed someone nearby, but a calm voice corrected his search and announced that they were there.

  • Chrollo arrived at Jing Yang and Shizuku's hotel after surviving a mysterious attack, and described waking in a pool of blood with a playing card embedded in a wall.
  • Jing Yang inferred that Hisoka had casually struck Chrollo with a card, then invited Chrollo to follow him and Shizuku to train.
  • Jing Yang taught Chrollo the Four Great Principles and introduced a Transmuter exercise, while Shizuku demonstrated her advanced Aura transformations.
  • Jing Yang trained his Emitter abilities by testing how far he could project Aura, while Shizuku and Chrollo practiced their own Nen skills.
  • After four days of training and visits to local hospitals, Jing Yang stopped in the street when someone spoke from behind him and said they were there.

Ch. 217Invitation

Jing Yang and Shizuku met Zushi, a Hunter hired by Battra to find the miracle doctors and secure their help, and Jing Yang defeated him in a fight. As Jing Yang and Shizuku discussed Nen training by the river, Bisky called out that Conjurer training was about an ability’s realism.

  • Zushi introduced himself and asked Jing Yang and Shizuku to meet his employer, but Jing Yang refused and challenged him to a fight the next morning.
  • Jing Yang learned that Battra wanted the miracle doctors to heal his critically ill lover and that Zushi had been hired to bring them in.
  • Zushi watched Jing Yang and Shizuku spar and was astonished by their aura control and the long-range damage from Jing Yang’s Emitter training.
  • Jing Yang defeated Zushi in close combat, and Zushi left after Jing Yang declared the match over.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku discussed Conjurer and Transmuter training by the river before Bisky called out that realism was the key to Conjuration.

Ch. 218Five Levels

Biscuit explained how Nen users could measure their training in Manipulation and Conjuration, prompting Jing Yang and Shizuku to consider how deeper training might remove limits on their abilities. The chapter ended with Jing Yang’s Death Qi panel revealing numbered levels for several Nen types.

  • Biscuit appeared and punched Jing Yang twice after he called her Aunt Bisky and tried to test whether he could dodge her attacks.
  • Biscuit explained that Manipulator training was measured by how many targets a user could control, and described five levels of Nen cultivation.
  • Jing Yang and Biscuit discussed how advanced training could let Nen users withdraw restrictions placed on their abilities.
  • Biscuit explained that Conjurer training was measured by how convincingly conjured objects appeared to ordinary people and Nen users.
  • Shizuku examined Blobfish and concluded that her Conjuration was at the second level, while she and Jing Yang considered whether further training could remove some of its restrictions.
  • Jing Yang’s Death Qi panel displayed Specialist at Level Five, Enhancer at Level Two, Emitter at Level Three, and Manipulator at Level Four.

Ch. 219Pretty Nice

Jing Yang discussed Nen training levels and their core principles with Biscuit and Shizuku before reuniting with Wu Er, the Fanged Moon Tiger. He discovered that Wu Er showed Conjurer affinity in a Water Divination test and began proposing ideas for its Nen ability.

  • Jing Yang explained to Biscuit why his Nen affinities had different training levels, and Biscuit described how Enhancers could progress steadily while Conjurers needed to understand realism.
  • Biscuit teased Jing Yang and Shizuku about being a couple, and the three discussed entry-level standards for Emission and Transmutation as they headed to Wu Er.
  • Jing Yang continued speculating about Transmutation's core principle on the way to the house where Wu Er was being kept.
  • Wu Er pounced on Jing Yang, who affectionately greeted the tiger after a year apart.
  • Jing Yang conducted Water Divination with Wu Er, and the strands of fur appearing in the water indicated that Wu Er was a Conjurer.
  • Jing Yang encouraged Wu Er to develop a Conjurer ability and began sharing his own ideas.

Ch. 220Spending Money

Jing Yang and Shizuku fought Zushi in the park after Battra offered them ten billion Jenie, and Shizuku defeated him with her Nen Saw Chains. Jing Yang reattached Zushi’s severed arm, and the group was left guessing at Zushi’s Nen affinity as Chrollo hurried over.

  • Battra heard Zushi’s account of losing to Jing Yang and agreed to show Jing Yang and Shizuku sincerity by offering them money.
  • Biscuit praised Jing Yang’s instinctive reflexes and discussed the pair’s unusual training routine without correcting them.
  • Zushi arrived for a rematch, and Jing Yang accepted Battra’s anonymous ten-billion-Jenie card before Shizuku took Zushi’s place.
  • Shizuku severed Zushi’s arm and inflicted numerous wounds with her Nen Saw Chains, defeating him faster than Jing Yang had the day before.
  • Jing Yang reattached Zushi’s arm with his healing Nen, and Biscuit, Jing Yang, and Shizuku speculated about Zushi’s Nen affinity.
  • Chrollo came running over as the group laughed by the river.

Ch. 221Transformation

Jing Yang and Shizuku said goodbye to Chrollo and discussed the levels and limits of Transmutation with Biscuit. The next day, Jing Yang, Shizuku, Biscuit, and Wu Er left the city by airship after accepting Zushi's invitation.

  • Jing Yang explained Aura transformation to Chrollo, who said he planned to transform his Nen into fire.
  • Jing Yang told Chrollo that he and Shizuku were leaving for the world of games, and invited him to watch the Hunter Exam at the end of the year.
  • Chrollo recognized Jing Yang as Zenyu, the Floor Master of Heaven's Arena, and thanked Jing Yang and Shizuku for their guidance.
  • Shizuku asked Biscuit about Transmutation training, and Biscuit described its second, third, and fourth levels.
  • Jing Yang and Shizuku speculated that the fifth level might let a body continuously generate Aura with transformed properties.
  • Jing Yang, Shizuku, Biscuit, and Wu Er boarded an airship arranged after Zushi's invitation and left the city.
