After traveling to Ignacy for Duke Garryson’s Merchant Guild gathering, Yi Chen bought a rare Skin Carrier at auction and captured its former owner in his Consciousness Space.

• Madam Olena took Yi Chen and Jin to compete in the Hunger Arena, where they cleared the other contestants with explosions before facing the Tumor Knights Marcelino and Figley.
• Yi Chen fought Marcelino with his firearm and death slash, then collapsed before finishing him, while Jin rescued him and Marcelino gave Yi Chen a card promising one free favor.
• Yi Chen and Jin received Greed Rings, and Tumor Knights warned Yi Chen that the Skin Factory was in trouble before Madam Olena took them to the Primeval Forest.
• Yi Chen used the hallucinogenic tree sap to practice resisting illusions, then told Madam Olena about his Moon Mark and the Fear Circus before leaving Jin with her.

Yi Chen traveled through the Realm of the Dead, secured a Deadperson’s Wedge Stone, and left with a newly forged weapon after helping Vivian hunt a Death Image. As he reached the Abyssal Skin Factory, the Black Death Skin began affecting his memories and body, and he found Bloodfolk watching the factory.

• Yi Chen absorbed the black fluid and had Yellow Skin fuse the flawless Black Death Skin into his Gentleman's Attire, while Golden Mask told him the Duke’s Merchant Guild was leaving Lamp City.
• Yi Chen followed Berner into the Original Tomb, obtained a flame seed for Thirteen at Bonfire Valley, and crossed the Realm of the Dead toward the First Dead.
• The First Dead offered Yi Chen death resources and a hundred years to grow if he joined it, but Yi Chen refused because of his Soul Contract and agreed to explore death together later.
• Yi Chen investigated Vivian West and offered to help her reach the imprisoned Original Commander in exchange for joining a hunt for a Deadperson’s Wedge Stone.
• Yi Chen, Vivian, Berner, and Stephen destroyed an Abyssal Death Image and collected four Wedge Stones, with Yi Chen receiving the purest one.
• Yi Chen gave Mr. Alpachi his dominant hand to forge a weapon from the Wedge Stone, then gave Stephen his right ear before leaving the Original Tomb with Thirteen.

William survived the Skin Factory’s blood-soaked challenge, underwent the flock’s rebirth ritual, and left to pursue his pathway. He joined the Fear Circus as a Magician’s Assistant and accepted Catherine’s offer to attempt the Apprentice Clown trial.

• William entered the Skin Factory through the Stitched Gate, defeated Pim, and learned that the scattered skin slaves needed to be gathered.
• William escaped the Marquis with help from Lainey and the Sheep Flock Organization, then learned that the Skin Factory’s factions and bloody pouches threatened G&D.
• William completed the flock’s dangerous fertility ritual, gained a Perfect Born Body and Birth Gate, and gave the Mother of the Flock the Cancer Crystal as lodging payment.
• William explored the Newborn Forest with Lainey, discovered Newborn Teleportation, and left the flock after Little Grape reported suspected blood-plague infections in Zion.
• William sought Duke’s help finding his pathway, then followed the Fear Circus’s invitation to Meniere Town and chose to apply as a Magician’s Assistant.
• William passed the circus’s recruitment review by frightening the fake Gian and revealing his abilities, then Lord Gian officially accepted him as an assistant.
• William’s visit to Ulise’s Disguise Room triggered Catherine’s Nightmare, and Catherine stopped the incident before taking William to the Clown House.

He and Catherine repeatedly revisited his Orphanage memories, and the stretch ended with William arriving at the Demon Feast as the circus’s strongest combatants gathered.
