Cleaner
In the bathroom, Yang Bo looked at himself in the mirror. He was 1.82 meters tall and weighed 75 kilograms, with black hair, black eyes, and delicate features. The original owner was nineteen this year, having reached adulthood three years ago. Here, adulthood began at sixteen.
The original owner had strictly followed the recommendations, so his physique looked perfect. But Yang Bo felt as though it were fake, as if he had taken over someone else's body.
"I want to find a job. Please help me filter the options," Yang Bo said as soon as he came out after washing up.
In this world, renting came with personal privacy as well. You did not need to sort your trash because you paid a fee, nor did you have to follow the advice of those intelligent programs. Renting was the same as buying a house—the inside of the room was personal territory, with a great many privileges.
He was currently living in government housing, so there was no privacy. They claimed it was for protection and care, though the main reason was that someone had once died in a government-provided room, leading to criticism that the government was not responsible enough toward vulnerable groups...
"Master, based on your education, the job you can do is Cleaner," the Intelligent System answered.
"I recommend that you go to the Community Service Center. There, you will find more detailed information."
When Yang Bo heard Cleaner, he began mulling it over. In this world, buying and selling small animals or killing them was strictly regulated. Many small animals had tiny Biochips in their bodies, so becoming a Cleaner might be the best way to verify whether transmigrators really received special benefits.
System Daddy?
Boot up?
He called out silently in his heart. He had struggled for a long time the night before, but no information had appeared at all. Yang Bo felt rather depressed.
Early the next morning, Yang Bo ate breakfast. Boxed meals were kept in the refrigerator; whenever he wanted something, he only had to heat it in the microwave. All free food was like this.
After eating and getting himself ready, he went out. The door opened automatically as he approached it.
When he reached the elevators, his Smart Wristwatch directed him to a specific one. Its doors were already open and waiting for him.
Downstairs, the streets were broad and clean. Smart Cleaning Robots worked diligently, the landscaping was excellent, and the ground was paved with stone tiles.
The people coming and going all moved at a normal pace. Occasionally, someone stood on an Anti-Gravity Skateboard and flashed past amid everyone's envious gazes.
The main road was divided into two levels. The first level, below four meters, was for public transportation—maglev buses and Anti-Gravity Taxis.
The second level, from four to eight meters, was for private vehicles, mainly Anti-gravity Cars. Private cars were also driverless. Once the owner set the route, the car would take them anywhere. Temperature, humidity, music, automatic doors, and everything else inside the car required the owner not to lift a finger.
"Advanced. So damn advanced." Yang Bo walked as he watched the various vehicles. The skateboard looked like an ordinary skateboard, but it used superconductivity and an Anti-Gravity system. It had no wheels, only handrails.
Those wearing wristwatches were residents, while those without them were citizens. Their status was obvious at a glance.
Citizen rank was related to the degree of genetic activation. C-Rank Citizens could study Mecha Piloting, B-Class citizens could study Air-to-Ground Fighter operation, A-Class citizens could study space battleship operation, and A+ Rank citizens could also study Space Carrier operation. As for the legendary S-Class, one person could destroy an entire fleet.
The Interstellar Federation was divided into three major powers: the Aquamarine Empire, the Scarlet Federation, and the Edin Alliance, where Yang Bo was currently located. The three powers fought one another while also keeping one another in check.
Yang Bo was on Pado Star, in Voer City.
The Aquamarine Empire used an imperial system, the Scarlet Federation used a constitutional monarchy, and the Edin Alliance used a true federal parliamentary system.
Technologically, the three nations were roughly equal. In any case, after all these years, the Three Great Empires remained just as enormous.
As for genetic development, there had originally been two schools. The first was the ancient martial arts school, which stimulated one's own potential. The second was the technological school, which used Gene Serum. Clearly, Gene Serum held a major advantage, and the ancient martial arts school had almost vanished over the years.
"Wang's Technology Company launches 14th Generation Quantum Chip Technology."
"Peace Technology Company launches its Twelfth Generation individual weapon, Sky Rend." Yang Bo looked at the billboard on a blue building.
It was an S-shaped weapon, as though two curved blades had been pieced together. It had no handle. At its center was a transparent crystal that gave off a captivating fluorescent glow.
The entire weapon was golden. It flashed through the air, leaving behind a streak of golden light.
Yang Bo shook his head even more as he looked at the weapon. This type of weapon required at least a C-Rank Citizen to use. The crystal at its center was an Energy Stone. Five hundred grams of Energy Stone was equivalent to more than fifty billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. The higher the purity, the more terrifying the energy it contained.
Ninety percent of the weapon was made of superconductive material. It contained a quantum chip that could connect to the Biochip inside the human body without delay. This weapon also had an Anti-Gravity system and an Energy System, allowing it to vibrate tens of thousands of times in a second. Unless it faced a warship's Energy Shield, any other object was like air before it.
With the support of a communications network, the time it took for a user to kill from a planet's South Pole to its North Pole depended on the weapon's performance and the user's own ability.
This thing is more powerful than the Flying Swords in novels, Yang Bo muttered to himself after watching the advertisement.
Of course, this kind of weapon also had a weakness: communications. Therefore, users generally would not send it too far away, lest it be interfered with. Moreover, such weapons were registered throughout the Federation, and many areas prohibited bringing them in.
At the Community Service Center, there were both robots and human staff. The young lady was very pretty and had a good attitude, though everything was formulaic.
Yang Bo made some inquiries. Given his education and résumé, he could only work as a Cleaner, and the lowest-level kind at that. He could not operate large intelligent machinery.
Training was held at the community center. Training for low-level Cleaners was simple: how to protect oneself, what equipment to wear in different environments, which cleaning agents to use on which materials, and how to respect personal privacy when providing services to individuals—no secret filming, stealing, and so on.
The training required twelve hours. Yang Bo was the only trainee, but there were several instructors. The training simply had to last twelve hours.
The food at the training center was better than what he had at home. It was obvious the meals were freshly made rather than mass-produced on an assembly line.
The next morning, Yang Bo's expression was calm, but inwardly he was about to explode. The damn Smart Wristwatch nagged more than his mother ever had. The key was that he could ignore his mother's advice, but if he ignored the Smart Wristwatch's recommendations, it would make him undergo psychological treatment... Yang Bo guessed it was something like a mental hospital.
Unexpectedly, after he finished the assessment that afternoon, he already had a job. A middle-aged fat man with silvery-white hair and black eyes stood before him. He wore a blue plaid shirt, jeans, and sneakers. He looked to be in his thirties, with little hair left on his head. He did not look like a boss at all.
"Mr. Yang Bo, would you be willing to join our Anzhijie Service Company?" The fat man looked at Yang Bo. These days, too few people were willing to go out and find work, while his business required human labor—specifically people with resident status.
"Mr. Liu, I'm willing." Yang Bo looked over the contract. There was a three-day probation period, and he would sign the contract here at the community center.
"Oh, that's wonderful, Mr. Yang Bo. I'll treat you to dinner and tell you about our company's business while we eat. Our company offers very generous compensation."
