"Seriously?" Yang Bo wandered around for a while. In this vast area, these cattle were the largest creatures. There were no tigers or leopards like he had imagined.
Taking a closer look at the cattle's build, they were practically like elephants. Then he looked at their horns and understood part of the reason. Those horns were nearly a meter long and a meter wide, like three-pronged steel forks.
And they lived in herds. Weren't they basically bulldozers? Spiked bulldozers, and an entire herd of them at that.
"Ah." Yang Bo looked around and, seeing no large animals, sighed before moving all the dead cattle into the underground cavern.
"But I don't have any status. Otherwise, I could just buy tissue cultures from these cattle." Yang Bo pondered as he worked.
At that moment, Yang Bo considered exploring the dangerous zones, but reason quickly dismissed the idea. His mecha was the worst model available. If it got damaged, he might go bankrupt on the spot.
"No rush, no rush." Yang Bo thought about how little time he had been here and how well things were already going. He needed to stay rational.
After dumping the cattle carcasses in a spot he had scouted beforehand, Yang Bo waited.
For wild animals, the scent of food was hard to resist. The blood of eleven cattle spread through the underground space, drawing countless crawling creatures toward the food.
There were all kinds of them. Yang Bo waited quietly nearby. The place he had chosen was a long, narrow passage, though it was extremely tall. He stood on a small platform high above the passage.
The place was quiet. Yang Bo had even shut off his radar, because official reports said that some Mutated Animals could detect radar scanning signals.
Since he had already baited the spot, Yang Bo didn't care what kind of fish showed up. As long as it was fish, it could enter his fishing ground.
Yang Bo switched on the sound receiver. In the silent underground space, the mecha's sound receiver could pick up the sounds insects made as they fought one another.
"This kind of baiting is still a little too expensive." Yang Bo watched the time pass. It cost several hundred Credit Points an hour.
After waiting for five hours, Yang Bo could hear the sounds of tearing flesh below. The sound of hide being ripped apart was especially clear, along with chewing and other noises.
He took out two Shockwave Bombs, twisted them casually, and threw one toward each side of the passage below.
Boom! Even inside the mecha, the tremendous noise made Yang Bo feel uncomfortable. The entire space shook, though Yang Bo had already turned on his radar.
Camouflage +1! Camouflage +1!
Dynamic Vision +1! The densely packed stream of notifications made Yang Bo grin from ear to ear.
Looking at the lizard corpses on the ground, their bodies had been distorted by the massive shockwaves. The narrow passage had made the shockwaves even stronger.
The hundred-meter-long passage was packed with all kinds of lizard corpses. There were hardly any crawling creatures left, because the lizards had eaten them all.
"What a pity people can't come here. Otherwise, there'd be plenty of ways to handle this, like poisoning them." Yang Bo sighed. Less than a tenth of his methods could be put to use here. Just imagine it: several levels underground, directly igniting highly toxic chemicals and creating a chimney effect in the Underground World. Who knew how many animals the poisonous smoke and gas could kill?
Yang Bo chuckled and placed a hydrogen bomb beneath one of the cattle carcasses, setting the timer for five hours before returning to base.
As for whether it might blow up his own people? No. The mecha would indicate danger when it approached. It had friend-or-foe identification, after all.
Back at the base, Yang Bo looked at the maintenance costs. Although he had plenty of Game Coins, it still made his heart ache. This was only the lowest-grade mecha; the higher the mecha's grade, the more expensive its maintenance and upkeep.
"I'll check out the trading center next time." Yang Bo thought to himself that he would visit the trading center next time.
After closing the game and logging out, Yang Bo walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked at the weather outside. The sky was clear for miles. Against the blue sky, the spaceport was forever a dazzling presence, utterly captivating, like a gigantic diamond ring in the heavens.
He silently called up his skills.
Swimming: Grandmaster (Speed in liquid +300%, permanent underwater breathing ability, underwater attack power +120%) Flight: Master (1402/10000) Camouflage: Master (5210/10000) Sonic Wave Control: Grandmaster (14350/100000) Dynamic Vision: Master (4832/10000) Charge: Intermediate (11/100) Thermal Imaging Vision: Advanced (301/1000) Electrical Energy Control: Advanced (112/1000) Light Energy Control: Beginner (4/10) Mecha Piloting: Intermediate (56/100) Stealth: Intermediate (16/100) Slap: Advanced (134/1000)
Entering the bathroom, Yang Bo looked at himself in the mirror. The muscles in his face rapidly shifted, and even his bones changed slightly. A few minutes later, a strange yet familiar face appeared in the mirror.
Yang Bo touched his face. This was what he had looked like in his previous life.
"My bones can be adjusted slightly. It looks like once Camouflage reaches its final stage, I'll be able to turn completely into a stranger." Yang Bo carefully experienced the skill, continuously disguising himself as different people, even creating women's faces.
Looking at the woman's face in the mirror, Yang Bo recognized her as a Female Star he had liked in his previous life. He touched his face and inexplicably felt like vomiting.
"Disgusting." Yang Bo even suspected that, once this skill reached its final stage, he could completely turn into a woman.
Then Yang Bo hurried off to sleep. He no longer needed to drain his own energy, since he had too much of it now.
He even had a nightmare. He dreamed that he had turned into a woman and gone into a bathhouse with other women...
I'm not that kind of creepy person, so why would I have such a nightmare? When he got up and checked, he had only slept for four hours.
Suddenly, streams of information appeared in his mind.
Dynamic Vision +1!
Camouflage +1!
However, amid those densely packed notifications were some that shouldn't have been there.
Stealth +32!
Stealth +8!
Stealth +4!
Yang Bo was a little dumbfounded. Stealth? So much Stealth? What kind of animal was that? "Could it be people? People from the Mutant side? +32—damn, that's an A-rank target." Yang Bo quickly got up, entered the game, bought a flight attachment, and rushed straight toward the location. Naturally, he had to bring the hydrogen bomb.
The passage was littered with corpses and in utter chaos. A rat as large as a tiger, covered in silver fur, was especially conspicuous. Other rat corpses could be seen farther away.
"Good stuff. Get out of here now." Yang Bo grabbed the rat and ran. The reason he was moving so quickly was that the bounty for an A-rank creature was enormous.
Yang Bo took out a large sack and stuffed the Silver Mouse's corpse into it. This was how it worked when killing contaminated creatures. Among the surrounding ruins were also obviously mutated rats as large as dogs.
Yang Bo had no time to deal with those. Taking the biggest prize for himself was enough. He slung the sack over his shoulder, rushed out of the underground space, and flew straight back to base to claim his reward.
