New Direction of Sonic Wave Control
It was different. Yang Bo now understood that Gene Evolvers were fundamentally different from ordinary residents.
"What the hell are ancient martial arts and Gene Serum? They're all trash before me."
"When you fight, all that matters is being fast, ruthless, and precise. The day my speed is too fast for technological weapons to lock onto me, I'll be invincible."
"But it seemed my Stealth could do that too."
Yang Bo had been stifled in his previous life. In this life, he desperately wanted strength. He clenched his fist. He did not know exactly how strong he was, but being able to knead a solid metal ornament into something like dough was definitely no small thing.
More importantly, it was not just his strength. His skin, muscles, and bones had felt no discomfort at all while crushing the metal, as though he were simply kneading plasticine.
Yang Bo stood before a mirror. The person reflected in it was who he had been in his previous life: a greasy middle-aged man standing one meter seventy tall, with a beer belly from his fondness for drinking himself drunk.
"This is still easier on the eyes." Yang Bo looked at his former appearance. His Camouflage had reached this level, allowing him to make minor adjustments to the bones throughout his body and control his height. Naturally, certain other parts could be adjusted too... Ahem.
"What should I do to get out of this dangerous place?" Yang Bo returned to his original appearance and looked at the Air-to-Ground Fighters patrolling the sky.
With those things around, unless one's individual strength reached the legendary Grade S, they were basically nothing more than sitting ducks.
"With Stealth, I could completely sneak out. But where should I go next?" Yang Bo felt somewhat lost. It was like the first time he had left home to find work—he had no idea what lay ahead or what he would face.
He then shook his head and began adapting to his strength. He did five hundred push-ups in one breath without even breaking a sweat.
"How can I precisely control my strength?" Yang Bo thought it over and over, but could not come up with a good solution.
The last time Yang Bo had gone out, he had run into Li Aido. So this time, he wore a mask as well. More than half the people in this world wore one. Most residents suffered from social anxiety because they rarely interacted with others. Yang Bo had not worn one last time because he had never had that habit in his previous life.
As he wandered outside, he quickly avoided any areas guarded by robots in the distance. He did not know what Red Earl had released underground, but it was probably something bad. They had been cleaning it up all this time.
As long as an area was free of interference, most work was done by robots. Occasionally, tasks requiring specialized handling were remotely operated by people.
Mechs were manually operated because the situations they faced were far more complicated than this kind of simple work.
"Boss." There were barely any people on the bus when Yang Bo went out today. He had received an email from Liu Zhijie asking him to come to the company.
Liu Zhijie rubbed his forehead before asking, "Yang Bo, how have you been lately? Feeling better?"
"Thank you, Boss. Much better." Yang Bo did not know why Liu Zhijie had called him in.
Liu Zhijie sighed. "Because of the threat from Red Earl, the planet's alert level has been raised. There are no plans to change that anytime soon. You know how housing prices have crashed. Many employees have suffered enormous losses this time, and several have gone missing. The company is in a difficult situation."
"Boss, are you quitting? Are you going to terminate my contract? I don't have any objections." Yang Bo thought Liu Zhijie was giving up, so he spoke up.
Liu Zhijie shook his head. "This planet is no longer safe. An Extremist Organization like Red Earl could launch a frenzied act of revenge at any time. The worst thing Red Earl ever did was release a harmful substance that killed half the people on a planet."
"Ah." Yang Bo did not doubt that Red Earl was capable of such a thing. Those people had something wrong with their heads.
Liu Zhijie continued, "So I have an idea. We leave this planet and develop elsewhere. Headquarters has agreed in principle, but we still have to wait to see where exactly we'll be going. I called you here today to ask what you think."
"If you're willing to come with me, then once we arrive, the company will provide you with either one Gene Serum or one secret technique for free. You won't have to do anything extra."
Yang Bo's heart stirred when he heard that. Had this fatty sensed some danger? Was he planning to run?
"I'll go back and think about it carefully." Yang Bo did not agree immediately. He had truly not expected Liu Zhijie to raise such an issue.
Liu Zhijie nodded. "Of course. We won't be able to leave anytime soon anyway."
"Boss, is there nothing else?" After hearing Liu Zhijie's answer, Yang Bo looked at him and asked.
Liu Zhijie watched Yang Bo's departing back and rubbed his forehead. Yang Bo did not seem interested in going to another planet.
Moreover, every Administrative Star would definitely refuse to allow a large-scale population decline. Otherwise, the politicians' numbers would look bad. Leaving smoothly would inevitably require a great deal of maneuvering.
Although the Infant Factory could produce people, that took time.
As Yang Bo walked, he pondered, Could sonic waves be used for targeted destruction?
Yang Bo did not take the bus. Instead, he strolled along slowly. This time, he wore a mask. He had overlooked that detail before. But today, Yang Bo planned to visit a nearby weapons store, where they sold Energy Weapons for Gene Evolvers.
He checked the time. It had only opened for the day.
As he walked, Yang Bo experimented with his Sonic Wave Control.
Suddenly, an idea struck him. Footsteps? Didn't Earth use the shockwaves from explosions to detect oil? He could do the same. So Yang Bo slightly amplified the sound of his footsteps while carefully sensing the image returned from the ground by those sounds.
Sonic waves could actually travel very far. It was simply that different creatures had different hearing abilities and could hear at different distances. If someone shouted at you from one hundred meters away, you could hear them. If they shouted from five hundred meters away, you could not. That only meant you could not hear it—the sonic waves still existed.
"Three meters?" Yang Bo sensed little by little and discovered that he could currently detect only around three meters beneath the ground. Any deeper, and it became blurry.
"If I could use sonic waves to destroy something three meters underground...!" Yang Bo's eyes lit up. Later, he would conduct experiments at home. If sonic waves could really travel three meters and destroy things inside, then this move would have enormous potential.
Yang Bo continued experimenting. At first, his footsteps were somewhat loud, but later they returned to normal. For the time being, though, he did not try destroying anything underground, since it might draw someone's attention.
The place selling Energy Weapons was different from what Yang Bo had imagined. It looked like one of those shops on Earth that sold hardware parts.
The store was piled high with all kinds of Energy Weapons in every imaginable shape. It felt as though it were filled with junk.
"Customers choose for themselves. No returns after purchase. Choose carefully." A person wearing a Virtual Helmet and virtual control gloves was apparently playing some game. Seeing someone enter the store, he spoke.
Yang Bo was a little dumbfounded. Choose for himself? How was he supposed to choose?
